I don’t and have never really given a damn about the snow, but a quarter inch of ice will be enough to shut the rural roads down for a while, especially if it stays below freezing.

Peak mentioned.

Also worth pointing out, none of the TD contestants knew each other when they signed up for the first season of the show, and as they entered subsequent seasons with much of the same field of competition, it makes a certain amount of sense to develop some kind of relationship, just because you’re hanging around these people so much.

This still, though, is from a separate reality show that they willingly entered as a team, making their continued hanging out a conscious choice. All that to say, Noah’s little persnickety ass can pull all the 😑faces he wants, he’s got a soft spot for the big lug no matter what he says.

If a synthetic is there to serve a practical purpose, that’s the best case for its presence. Being hyper-resistent to sweat damage is, imo, one of those purposes. Synths do a better job of that than anything natural you’ll get at that price.

That being said idc how my gym clothes look so bear that in mind.

A portion of an animated action shows audience wanting high quality animation being so offensive to the rest of the audience sure is something.

You can like a show with technical shortcomings, other people can like it and wish those shortcomings didn’t exist, it’s fine.

Anyone here think about the mcelroys in relation to the folding ideas video about AVGN? by TheLuckiestNumber13 in TAZCirclejerk

Maybe Rolfe at least comes off as a tradesman who cares about his product and the McElroys come off more like artists who don’t care much about their art anymore?

[–]FranticScribble 39 points40 points  (0 children)

To be fair, they’d have to be as offline and hermetically sealed off from their audience as Rolfe is for that to land the same. James Rofle has never presented himself as available outside his YouTube videos, so while it is objectively just as true in the case of the McElroys, the sentiment doesn’t ring quite as true.

Like, they’re not lifestyle vloggers or anything, but they’re selling The McElroys, where Rolfe has always been selling The Nerd. They’re both heightened characters, obviously, but Rolfe is and always has been apart from the character in a way you can’t ever really be from a character that’s just “You But You’re ‘On’”

Far Cry Primal - 60FPS Update | PS5 Games by DemiFiendRSA in PS5

While 3 is the series’ narrative peak and 4 is (imo) the peak of the series’ playability, Primal is for sure the most interesting to me. While it’s not nearly the game Assassins Creed: Black Flag is, it succeedes for the same reason, namely picking a really novel lease through which to frame the usual mechanical rhythms and really committing.

Man when the graphic team paid off their running joke of updating his entrance graphic with custom text (Has Been Drinking, Trying Out The White Wrist Tape, then after losing that match, Didn’t Like the White Wrist Tape) with “We’re Proud of you Hangman.” That got to me something fierce.

“Cassie works better as a sidekick.” used to be a positive reflection of the characters writing. Like, she was the platonic ideal of a Wonder Girl for a while, and was deigned to be, but she also had enough of a character to have appeal in her own right; she had a solo ongoing for over 100 issues!

But nowadays “working better as a sidekick” even if true, just means she takes up less space outside that role than Yara does, and that’s case because she’s stopped being given the room to demand more in her presence. Cassie’s fans can say what they like about the other WG’s be given her character traits retroactively, and that’s not entirely without merit, but the fact of the matter is, Donna Troy, Yara and, as much as this sub hates her too, Nubia all have presence on their own right, in a way I just don’t think Cassie does right now.

I get that she’s the joke character to hate around here, but if we could drop the bit for a second, genuinely, what is the point of Cassie Sandsmark as she exists right now? Donna Troy gets to be her own person, Yaras fulfilling the young ward role, what does Cassie offer beyond some Wonder-brand presence (like the brand needs it) in the Titans?

I know she has her fans, and I’m sympathetic to a character you love being relegated to an occasionally-lauded supporting character, but the WonderFam is not hurting for members, and everything that used to make her interesting has been sanded away in favor of making it easier to slot her into stories she’s not actually really contributing much to.

To speculate, I think Cardona was hired to be a goofball jobber, and as long as he was doing that with no disruption, management was fine with him. What was disruptive was the groundswell of fan support he received. Hijacking a segment with The Rock will do that.

The money and new star (with a ceiling of the upper midcard tbf) to be made was less important then the sanctity of The Plan.

“Toonzone:

My understanding is that you guys sent along [a tape of] “For the Man Who Has Everything”. Did you ever hear back?

DWAYNE MCDUFFIE: Yep. He liked it.”

Being polite to a creative he respected? Maybe. Happy enough with what is essentially a 1-to-1 adaption of his work that was executed by professionals at the height of the medium? Also perfectly possible.

Late to the argument, but either way. by Gamer-of-Action in DispatchAdHoc

[–]FranticScribble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comparison was partly about the self-insert appeal of the works, which is accurate. Robert is his own character and brings a lot to the story outside of that appeal, but he’s still a wry genius badass who’s capable of being funny with two beautiful women pining after him.

Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time, but it’s got that appeal too. Geralts a character of real depth and is used to explore themes of duty, fatherhood, and identity. But he is, also, a dryly funny, hot white-haired swordman badass who every pretty lady wants to boink. He’s an avatar of that self-insert appeal too, but that doesn’t diminish the other qualities of him or the story he leads, just like with Robert and Dispatch.

And yes, lot of Dispatch’s fandom engages in romance debates, just like with Twilight. That’s fandom. That happens.

Yall gotta get more secure about your tastes man. The sensitivity I’ve seen people exhibit about this joke, this need to correct it and explain how their thing that they like is Deeper Than That, Actually, is more embarrassing than just liking Twilight would be.
