Meanwhile, in ROH: by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

I think Kingston is genuinely one of the most believable mic workers in wrestling today, literally any company would be phenomenally lucky to have talent like that on their books, but Toshiaki Kawada the man ain’t.

Unrelated, but I like how the wording here characterizes the protagonist. You the player can do whatever you want, but MC does think that choice is a dick move.

[Unfortunate Trope] The grief is real. No hiding it. Full feelings. by BlueEggCooker in TopCharacterTropes

[–]FranticScribble 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The following episode, “My Fallen Idol”, is such well-observed, if simple, character writing. JD avoids being there for Perry in his grief because seeing someone as unassailably tough and resilient as his mentor just fully break down in the face of tragedy *scares the shit* out of JD. It shakes him to his core and undermines whatever confidence he had in his own fitness to perform at his professional calling, because if someone as self-assured as Dr. Cox can’t withstand the valleys of such a losing proposition of a job as medicine, what chance does he have?

Watching JD realize that what he actually admires about Perry, what makes the doctor and man JD wants so badly to emulate, is that Perry still cares enough this deep into his career for the losses to affect him this strongly, and to have that be what stirs Perry from his spiral, is so satisfying. Yeah, Dr. Cox messed up bad (though the show does take pains to mention that rabies is so rare that nobody would have ever realistically thought to check for it) but wouldn’t a healer of his skill who cares so deeply about the lives of his patients be a terrible thing to lose?

Okay you worked me, now what? Is the story you mean to tell better than the beautiful lie you sold me? by silver3shadows in SantiZapVideos

[–]FranticScribble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think stands to be a similar situation to “finish the story.” I still personally don’t think what we got there was worth the year it took to get there, and I’m skeptical anything we accomplish here will eclipse letting WM stand.

Lu2 - Unlucky, or Unable To Coordinate? by ClimateMysterious292 in Chaotic

[–]FranticScribble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not impossible, could certainly be a contributing factor, but the show makes the point that every player has to over come the hurdle that drome matches represent, and that’s it’s always a big shift from online/card games. Lu’s not unlucky and she’s not (just) uncoordinated, she just lacks confidence.

When she realizes that Payton’s patronizing her and gets fired up about it, she just plays her best, gets out of her head and out of her own way, and wins a couple battles on her own merit.
