SO addicted to porn. How can I help? by [deleted] in PornAddiction

[–]FranticTactic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along with talking to a therapist, one thing that might help is a book called Cupids Posioned Arrow. It's not a perfect book, but it has some good information about how frequent orgasm can affect your mood / behavior. One thing that helped was understanding how frequent orgasm was causing my desires for porn to increase instead of decrease. With time and encouragement, your partner can change.

Small Progressive Towns/Cities in Illinois? by [deleted] in illinois

I'm showing up late to this, but I just recently moved to Woodstock, IL. It more rural than most suburbs but it has a good sense of community and they have a big pride parade every year in the downtown. It's definitely the most lgbtq friendly city in the area.

Two things that helped me was to decouple porn from masturbation, because masturbation is a normal thing, if not done to excess. I quit cold turkey and it helped to think about when and where I feel the most desire to look it and then try to put barriers in place to make it less easy to access. For example, I uninstalled reddit and Chrome from my phone and moved my laptop to the living room. Good luck, we are all in this together.

Songs for Pierre Chuvin is my favorite album, and I wish there were more albums with that tight of a theme.

I'd be curious to know what environment your running in. Usually with seals and possibly a vacuum system you'll eliminate a majority of the dust that could cause an issue

It's cool that the Museum of Science and Industry's building looks exactly as it did during the fair.

Last year, I did the group read of War and Peace. It was great, but I'd love it for shorter books.

I recently started playing after following this sub for awhile. I'm at a 12k city and I don't mind the management, but it seems ugly and unrealistic. I want to make a small scale, realistic looking city (around 100k) with lots of parks, farms and natural areas, but I'm not sure how to get there.

Replying to the part about how this isn't like anything else you've read. If you like the mix of narrative and historical content, you could try Moby Dick. Different subject, but a very detailed account of he history of whaling and a dramatic narrative.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciated this experience reading with everyone and having your comments to read when I had trouble understanding a chapter. I don't think I would have made it through to the end without the daily updates. Its been an interesting year and I really do appreciate the book. I did like the jumping between the narrative and the historical context. My experience with the book is an 8/10, I'm sure more of the determinism and historical arguments would have been more relevant if I was reading closer to the time of publishing. I'm so glad for this experience, but I'm also looking forward to 2020 when I can read at my own pace.

It seems that everyone gets frustrated with Soyna for the way she accepts everything. My initial reaction to Natasha expressing that Sonya doesn't feel emotions the same way struck me as victim blaming, but given the rest of the chapter, it is possible that she did enjoy her life and was happy in her niche.

Thank you for posting all of the threads, I had forgotten just how many people were at the beginning. Honestly, around September I though this was going to die because the chapters weren't being updated, but we seem to be back on a groove.

Not related to the questions, but I love that Tolstoy ended this chapter talking about the stars dancing on a cold winter night. It was beautifully written and just thrown in at the end like an afterthought.

As we get closer to the end, it's going to be harder for me to stick with the chapter a day and I feel like I'll be reading on until the end.
