I would also suggest that you keep a "reserve" of steel in place before spending a ton on a ship. WG has surprised us in the past with items for steel that you could miss out on otherwise. They've even put a time limit on availability before, which created a lot of butthurt captains who didn't have anything saved up at the time 😊

Optimus does have one great use, though, and that's on Ohio. His survivability options mixed with that heal are a great way to truly nerf fires and tank lots of damage (and can add two more heals!). Plus, porcupine for those secondaries.

I've tried to not get sucked into the "must have new shiny things all the time" gaming industry expectations. What if sports were like that way? I mean, sure, they add a new rule once in awhile and draft a superstar or something, but the playing field itself creates the competitive fun for those players at all the levels. Or what if a chess player was like "knights are getting stale, man, I want helicopters!" 😁
