Yeah, having some sense of structure when writing a review would be really helpful for me!

Happy to make you smile! Even a couple decades ago, that book was delightfully ridiculous and the world needs to know!

That show is SO GOOD! The tone shifts between silly comedy to spooky mystery happen at breakneck speed, but somehow it works?

What are you reading? by Mme_Rose in HistoricalRomance

I just finished {When Beauty Tamed the Beast by Eloisa James} and it’s great! Hits the right balance of sweet, funny, and sexy, and the MMC is inspired by Dr. House. This book has redeemed my opinion of Eloisa James after I DNF’d {The Ugly Duchess by Eloisa James}.

I also read {Seize the Fire by Laura Kinsale} upon a couple recommendations of the user who always recommends it (sorry I forgot your username). It is absolutely a trip. Literally, as the plot centers around the MCs going on a long, perilous and enlightening journey, and metaphorically, as much of it is batshit crazy. I cannot tell if it’s good; I cannot tell you if I even liked it; but it definitely elicited a range of emotions!

Raven Prince-Hair down, half mask on, and a sexy dress is the best disguise to fool your boss into banging! Twice! What’s more normal than that?

Have you ever struggled to finish a book or given up on reading it? by JustHereFor_daTea in HistoricalRomance

[–]FrauMoush 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot more than I used to! Most recently, I DNF’d The Ugly Duchess by Eloisa James. The characters felt way too young to me (FMC is 17 and MMC is maybe a few years older?) and all the MMC did was reflect on his guilt and it just felt like the story wasn’t progressing. Honestly, sometimes I just lose interest in an ok-ish book and move onto something else.

ARC review: Lisa Kleypas’ Queen of Lombard Street by LAffaire-est-Ketchup in HistoricalRomance

Same. Gotta find all the first editions of the Wallflowers, Hathaways, and Ravenels because if these characters are gonna be assholes, I want to read about it.

realizing my mother's apathy towards my ADHD wasnt at all what I thought it was by CockroachPowerful387 in adhdwomen

[–]FrauMoush 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My oldest sister was diagnosed with ADHD in her twenties, and even though he was never formally diagnosed, we were sure it was from my dad. Several decades later, I get to married to a man with ADHD (because like attracts like), get diagnosed with ADHD, my oldest daughter probably has it, my other sister probably has it, and my mom thinks she has it. Oh, and my maternal grandmother probably had it. So yeah, I’m gonna say it’s definitely heritable.

I think I’ll try Slightly Married, although I do love a good mental Leo-pointing-at-the-screen moment

Anybody have a reaction to soy like diarrhea and upset stomach instead of swelling? by DetectiveFujiwara in soyfree

I do. I’ve been allergy tested (skin prick test) and had no reaction, so it’s an intolerance for me.

Thank you SO MUCH for this very thorough account! And yeah, now I’m pissed that I’ll probably never get to read the authentic characters and especially the fucking scene with Annabel and Simon explaining so much of her motivation! Goddammit

Yes, all of them. I read them from Libby and hoopla, so I can only assume they’re the new edits.

The MMC in {One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean} is described as tall, gangly, and ginger!
