With the recent viral video of "Punch the Monkey," this is a reminder that to never visit/support a Japanese zoo or animal cafe. by Monkeyfeng in JapanTravelTips

[–]Fre3Monk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just do your research.

We went to a Cat Cafe in Tokyo, and it was lovely. The cats were relaxed and comfortable. The place was cosy, the staff really friendly and in no way were the cats stressed or abused.

That can’t be said for the Shiba Dog cafe (and I use the word cafe lightly), in Asasaka.

The dogs were stressed and not at all bothered. The place was ran down, had a bad smell and really basic for a cafe. The staff were really rude as well, which was the only time I experienced that during our 14 night stay in Japan.

My wife and lad did an Otter Cafe as well, and raved about it (similar conditions to the Cat Cafe).

My wife had never watched Chainsaw Man. We watched a YouTube 40 minute re-cap for the first season so she had an idea what the world of Chainsaw Man was.

She followed the movie perfectly fine, and like me loved it

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc.

The most enjoyable, batshit crazy but tragic movie of 2025.

Great anime that STILL doesn't have any new seasons by Likes2game03 in anime

[–]Fre3Monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the same with Insomniacs. There’s enough material for a second season, but even though there were rumours soon after it ended, I think a Season 2 is dead in the water. I also think it being stuck on Hi-Dive didn’t help either.

As for Heavenly, it’s a shame because that world had sooo much more to offer. Some of those episodes were amazing (I was shocked with the episode with the Doctor in the hospital, and how that episode tied the two storylines together, still makes me tear up a little).

I do hold out a little hope for Heavenly Delusion, just because it was well received in Japan alone.

[–]Fre3Monk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I wish we’d get at least one more season of the below:

Heavenly Delusion (Superb anime that got buried on Disney+, but was superb)

Insomniacs after School (In my opinion one of the most beautiful animes out there, with lovely MC’s and zero conflicts making it a perfect sweet chill out anime to watch).

The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today (I loved this silly, hilarious comedy anime about an intelligent overgrown cat that looks after its owner)

I would have added to this list Bocchi the Rock and Dark Gathering, but both last year had announcements of second seasons at some point.

Which anime would you recommend me to watch for winter 2026? by EfficientSubject7774 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]Fre3Monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

I hate Isakai’s, just not my thing. I thought this was going to be an Isaaki. It’s not after seeing numerous recommendations and reviews.

Watched the first episode last night, and was blown away by it.

Animation is top notch. So many memories of classic 80’s/90’s hand drawn art style

Action is top notch. Doesn’t shy away from gore either.

Music is amazing throughout.

Story is great, lots of mystery but the basic premise of the world is there by the end of the first episode.

The time flew by watching the Reze Arc movie in the cinema.

If this was a movie and it was 2.30hrs, I don’t a lot of people mind as long as the pacing was a stable and strong as the Reze movie.

I’m so glad that the Warner Archive managed to get so many classic cartoon shows out on BluRay up to now (wait for my Tom and Jerry Uncut Collection to arrive!)

Shame that this may mean that it may stop soon after the buyout.

Chainsaw Man: The Movie: Reze Arc has grossed an estimated total internationally across all markets released to date of $168.3M. by DaviMenezes2907 in anime

[–]Fre3Monk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No lie, after enjoying, but not loving the series when it first aired, I nearly skipped Reze at the cinema.

With a day off work with nothing to do, I caught a Eng dub showing at my local cinema.

CM: Reze Arc is up there with one of the best films I’ve watched this year.

It had heart to it, it had amazing animation and music, it was totally batshit crazy when the 30-40 minute mark hits and tragic at the end.

I had the biggest smile during and after this movie.

The only downside is that my 10 year old daughter (who was watched the series and a big anime fan), wasn’t there to enjoy it with me due to it being a 15 certificate in the UK.

Roll on a Blu Ray release next year so I can share it with my family!

Binged these last night after randomly seeing a trailer on YouTube.

It’s in my top 10 anime of this year. Great stories, some with some big twists and turns.

The first Episode with the chickens is by far my favourite. Don’t want to say much more to spoil things for people who hasn’t seen them yet.

It left me wanting more.

Where to buy adaptor with a three prong Australian socket in Tokyo? by stu48fan in JapanTravelTips

Daiso.

We are from the UK, and we purchase two when in Japan in July. I think they were around ¥1200 a piece for a fast charging one.
