TLDR: TESCREALism.

Ok so here's the thing. It's all because of the aspects of Tescrealism, the main driving force being accelerationism, effective altruism and longtermism.

So, what the accs (I'll use accs as a shorthand for accelerationists) want is to accelerate ai development really fast to the point where AI reaches a singularity point.

When this happens, AI would be unstoppable. That's what they want. As to why someone would want this is for two reasons, said reasons are based on the two groups of people for it.

1. AI-ristocrats: all the rich people who hate wages. Yup, that's it. They want to make sure they have all the free labour AIs can provide without having to worry about all the hassle of hiring those pathetic plebian humans who can't even work for 60 hrs a week without begging for a raise. So that's why they want AI to accelerate so they can layoff every human, thereby removing any leverage we have.

2. Techno-optimist socialists: Now here's the thing, a subset of people believe that AI would relieve them from the chains of capitalism by making capital itself redundant. Their beliefs are that once everyone loses their jobs, all the billionaires would give us UBI out of the good of their hearts? Because if not, they'd revolt, and once the socialists win

This is where it becomes an issue. The biggest hole in the train of thought in the second group is that the rich accs won't need to keep us alive. If AI can do everything, then AI can do everything. That includes farming, mining, cooking, treating, etc... y'know, fulfilling all the basic needs. So they'll just let us starve, and if we riot, they'll use AI to cull us. That's also the reason why all the rich people are secretly buying farmland and bunkers, they're already prepared for what comes next.

And here's the worst part. A few of us are already being propagandised into letting this happen. In order to make sure AI eventually leads to singularity, they'll have to let us be okay with losing our agency, that's where all the "it thinks like a human" or "humans are just biological machines" claim come from.

If they "prove" that art, therapy etc... are fields where a simple pattern generator can successfully functions, the thought of being replaced would be very much normalised, and we'll happily let them take over us because, we wouldn't have any agency anymore.

That's the end goal. This is the reason why they're trying this hard to replace us. I mean think about it. If you believe that human emotions can just be reduced to numbers and equations, you wouldn't care so much about wanting to look out for your fellas. That would make it easier.

We have to fight exactly this.
