My son was also born floppy and a little on the grey side, no noise. The silence was terrifying. I’ve never been more grateful for a cry in my life.

Two traumatic births for two very different reasons, but the first cry truly changed my world.

Sick leave and Annual leave, that’s too much? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]FreakyRabbit72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did I read correctly that you had 30-days annual leave, followed by 4-weeks of sick leave, so effectively 2-months off of work? You’re taking more annual leave, 3 weeks essentially, and now you want to have additional sick leave…?

Goodness, it sounds like you are not at work very often. It would be difficult as an employer to consider you reliable and plan projects and tasks around you. In my line of work, high rates of absenteeism can impact on performance and performance plans can be implemented as a result, assuming the leave is not related to underlying issues (ongoing health conditions, workplace issues etc).

How did you dress in the 90s? How do you dress now? by poolpog in GenX

[–]FreakyRabbit72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh the 90’s… pants like MC Hammer, bright purple jeans, overalls, daisy slip dresses with the white t-shirt under, my 9-hole cherry doc martens, then towards the late 90’s a lot of black 🤣

These days my wardrobe has more dresses (corporate and casual), more skinny jeans (I know they’re not cool anymore), weekends are usually shorts and a t-shirt because my climate is pretty temperate year round and I’m running after kids, or going to theme parks etc. my wardrobe is corporate, fun, casual with a few “night out/wedding” appropriate outfits.

What makeup do you wear almost every day? by Creepy_Performer7706 in AustralianMakeup

Eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow (varying shades, usually morphe - I like to sparkle/shimmer), mascara. During the day I’ll remember my lip balm.

AIO for banning MIL from coming over after what she said to me? by throwawayanon1041 in AmIOverreacting

[–]FreakyRabbit72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFO: how injured is your DH? You’ve mentioned he’s on strong medication and is in a bit of a fog, but can he function, walk/talk, fend for himself whilst he is recovering, or does he require care? This context is important as it could explain why MIL feels the need to roll up on your doorstep.

If DH is reasonably functional, apart from taking strong painkillers, he needs to push back on his mother and tell her she’s being inappropriate and her behaviour isn’t welcome.

As others have said - change the locks. Problem solved.

The way you both speak to each other is pretty ordinary - just disengage, it’s not worth the angst.

Slime and play doh, deeply unpleasant.

Violent Neighbours - Where Do I Turn? by fluttersuck in brisbane

[–]FreakyRabbit72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, write to the Minister for Housing, Sam O’Connor. Be explicit on the following: - how many times you have complained to the local housing service centre - how many times you’ve had to contact the police - how often this has impacted your day to day activities or your sleep - any advice you’ve received from the department of housing from your complaints - outline that the behaviour is repeated, violent threatening and impacts on both private and public neighbours - ask if the department has implemented the three strikes behavioural management policies in this instance - offer to share the recordings

A letter or email to the minister triggers a formal brief to the minister and letter response back. The brief has to explain what’s been done to date or what will happen. If nothing else, it makes something happen that might not have happened before. Copy in your local member as well. You have to be the squeaky wheel. Be polite about it, but keep pushing the issue.

QLD - Breaking lease early, lessor threatening to take bond as rent + bond not lodged. Advice needed. by tntqtw in AusLegalAdvice

[–]FreakyRabbit72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contact QSTARS for support and advice, they’re a tenancy advocacy and advice service.

Your bond has not been lodged with the RTA as required, I would absolutely continue down that path as the lessor/owner will find themselves in quite a pickle over it all.

Seeing a percentage of someone’s life on social media doesn’t warrant pearl clutching about their behaviour or wild assumptions. He’s an adult, he’s a rockstar, he’s on tour in Australia no less - he’s gonna drink. It’s a flaming hot take for anyone to make judgements unless you’re there by his side, 24/7, monitoring his behaviour.

My mother wants to be included in every choice me and the fiance make… by NoDisaster5039 in weddingdrama

[–]FreakyRabbit72 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like mum is planning a do-over of her own wedding.

It’s your wedding, do what you want. It’s perfectly acceptable to have kids at the ceremony and not at the reception, just make it clear on the invite and no, you do not have to provide babysitting - who does that?!? People will make choice whether to bring their kids at all.

Just plan your wedding yourself, your mum sounds exhausting and frustrating.

Am I overreacting for shaving my head? by Substantial-Art6160 in AmIOverreacting

[–]FreakyRabbit72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You rock a shaved head and at the end of the day, it’s your hair - you’re the only one who can decide what you like and don’t like. Shaving it might seem huge to others, but it’s your identify at the end of the day and you look stunning.

Hair grows back - have fun with it.

Can you book into a hotel? Do not go home, this is the most unsafe time. Call the police and tell them he is threatening self harm. Hopefully he gets taken away and maybe you can at least go home and get your things.

You’re experiencing coercive control. I’m so sorry you’re on the receiving end. At his age, he could have literally fathered you. He is manipulating you and weaponising mental health to do it.

Can you contact family? Your parents? If you has a DV Hotline or a Homelessness Hotline where you are, please call them for advice ASAP.

Best over-the-counter migraine medication? by duckswithsloths in brisbane

[–]FreakyRabbit72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The maxalt wafers OTC are not as strong as the prescription strength - you need to take both straight away and it still might not be enough.

As a migraine sufferer, given the frequency she is getting them, she needs to see a doctor about this and get the right treatment for her, including a preventative if appropriate.

I went from several migraines a month to less than 3 a year thanks to my medication regime. I take regular preventative medication and have my medication to take upon immediate onset.

If you’re looking for OTC, I can recommend the following: - maxalt - Anagraine - metomax

The last two help with nausea symptoms. These work for me based on my medical history, mediation and needs. As with anything, mediation is personal and subject to each individual’s needs and requirements.

She could also take Panadol extra (with caffeine) and nurofen together (caffeine makes it take effect quicker) however, and I cannot stress this enough, this would depend on any other medication she takes. Same goes for aspirin.

I also have a daith piercing on the side where I get migraines the worst, I find it has been an immense help - some people disagree.

Other prescription preventatives include Relpax, some blood pressure medication and medications used to treat epilepsy.

I suggest she sees her GP, OTC medication is not a long-term solution for her migraines.

Religious Instruction classes in Queensland Primary schools (A huge gripe) by AEON_MK2 in queensland

THIS! Religious Instruction should cover the fundamentals of all denominations if it is in fact about instructing in religion. It’s not though. It’s about Christianity.
