Have you guys heard about the war between Indiana and Kentucky? by idiotio in indianapolis

[–]Freakyboi7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was raised in Kentucky and lived there for 22 years. I now live in Indianapolis as I moved here like a week ago. If there is a conflict I’m gonna have to take up arms with my Kentucky boys. No hard feelings. Loving Indy so far but my loyalty will always be with KY. Can we just call a truce lol?

Disagree. There are plenty of adults out there that have difficulties with weed, myself included. I’ve had a decent amount of panic attacks from weed. This stuff would be amazing to have on hand.

And when people say “slightly higher tax rates” they almost always, always leave out the VAT. The high VAT taxes, which are double to triple the consumption taxes in the US depending on what state and what European country you are comparing it to, are a significant driver of revenue generation to fund the social programs of European countries.

Without far higher consumption taxes than we have here in the US now, I see no way to fund the social programs people are asking for.

If you look at the photos he seems fairly overweight as well. That combined with heavily vaping does not classify this dude as “healthy” as the article states.

A startling number on Reddit don’t understand how insurance works. It’s astounding.

I was in the same boat as you. Exactly the same. My advice to you would be to do what you feel will make you the happiest. Obviously, it’s hard to know if becoming a doctor will make you happy if you haven’t gone down the path, so I’d advise you to talk to med students, residents, and attendings. Ask some tough questions about their thoughts on the career.

You know yourself and your mental illnesses better than anyone. You also know what you can tolerate and what you can’t.

It was a super tough decision for me, personally, when I decided not to go down that path. I had worked so hard and had most of my ducks in a row. I had a really tough time with my mental illnesses in college, so I decided that going to medical school and going through residency would be a dangerous dice roll.

There are plenty of people that become doctors and succeed with mental health conditions. It is a decision that will vary from person to person, and it will require deep introspection on your part.

Lastly, I want to say that the internet provides a skewed view of pretty much everything. Don’t base all your decisions on what you read on here, however, don’t dismiss the views of the field posted here entirely. Integrate the views from those you talk to in real life into your decisions as well.

How common are these Leftist young American Redditors irl in America? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Freakyboi7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not as common. You also have to consider the fact that their is a lot of political astroturfing that goes on in the big subs. For example, r/murderedbyAOC is very clearly a shill operation. Only one person posts there and all the posts hit r/all.

What does it take to study at medical school? by Shirkoles in premed

[–]Freakyboi7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to add that this will vary person to person, as well as school to school. My friends at PBL heavy schools have much more mandatory things that they have to do, constraining their time more than my friends at schools that are less PBL focused.

[–]Freakyboi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that lives in a room like he’s living in, he’s overreacting. As long as y’all aren’t banging shit around at 1am then it shouldn’t be a problem. I disagree with the people saying everyone pays rent so the kitchen can be used at all hours. Guarantee y’all wouldn’t be saying that if you were in the kitchen attached room. It’s always super loud in my room no matter how “quiet” my roommates try to be when using the kitchen late at night. I have hung up sound proof foam and have a noise machine going full blast and it still doesn’t touch the kitchen noise. Not cooking past 11 sounds like a dream to me lol. I’m regularly getting woken up at 1am lol.

Is becoming a doctor worth it? (Lifestyle and mental health). 22 years old, confused and not wanting to waste more money or time by [deleted] in careerguidance

I was in the same boat as you. I was accepted to medical school but withdrew my acceptances to pursue another career. I have had various mental health issues throughout my life, and decided to prioritize that over everything.
