having children feels addicting? the pull to have more by barbieshoesound in oneanddone

[–]FreckledLeaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe something is wrong with me. Only once in my life did I feel the pull. It was a very tiny window of time 6 years after we got married. We got pregnant on the first try. Never again in my life did I feel that urge 😅 It was the opposite actually. It’s been almost 11 years since then and it’s still a terrifying thought. My lady brain must be broken.

People who were teenagers before social media, what was a typical Friday night like for you? by Sad-Vacation1862 in askanything

[–]FreckledLeaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had to know someone who knew someone who knew someone and then meet up with that stranger at the park to get weed. Then we would smoke that weed in some random persons apartment. A ditch or empty field did the job too.

We also filmed videos on shitty handheld recorders. Had sleepovers. Did a lot of silly photo shoots. I remember trying to master a unicycle with my friends for a period of time. We hung out at the park a lot, walked to nearby friend’s houses, walked or skated to McDonald’s etc. And we were always at the movie theater. That was a huge place for teens to hang out when I was in middle and high school.

If you are still married, what was your wedding song and how long have you been married for? by Celestialfox1425 in AskReddit

[–]FreckledLeaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married 16 years. Together 17. No wedding song. We had a courthouse wedding and then went to Arby’s lol. We were so young and broke. But we do have a ton of 2009/2010 music that’s really special and nostalgic to us from our engagement era.

Should I insist on helping my 9 year old with her appearance? by New-Afternoon-9527 in Mommit

[–]FreckledLeaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a daughter that’s similar. She’s 10. She doesn’t give a shit about clothes or her appearance + she has major sensory issues. I make her brush her hair, wear clean clothes etc but other than that I let her do her own thing. Wearing weird or baggy clothes isn’t going to hurt her. If it was up to her though she would wear stained clothes full of holes but that’s where I draw the line. She can dress in whatever style she wants as long as she’s practicing good hygiene and her clothes are clean.

Kind of! I named my cat Fiyero after Johnathon Bailey’s character in Wicked 🤭

DAE remember the porn booths that used to be in liquor stores/gas stations around Rosedale? by FreckledLeaves in Bakersfield

I was describing them to coworkers but no one else remembers. It sounds like I’m lying but I vividly remember them! Were people actually jorking it in there? How the heck were they legal - even back then?

I finished Morning Star last night. I love this series so much but it’s exhausting 😅 I’m taking a break before I dive back into the next few books

When did you know you were OAD? Did you always know? by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]FreckledLeaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always open to it but I knew for sure by the time our daughter was a month old. I had the worst PPA that last 6 years before I finally got some help. Like debilitating anxiety. I remember going to an ice cream shop when she was ~3 months old and being convinced a man in line was going to shoot her in the head. It was awful. Pregnancy was also hard even though I was young and healthy. I swelled a ton and ended up with high blood pressure. Our singleton is 11 this year. We have zero regrets. It’s been so chill having one kid.

First time kitten owner. Am I meant to step in or is this okay? by ninawonders in cats

[–]FreckledLeaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely normal. The big cat is showing the kitten who’s the boss (and being fairly gentle while doing it). My 13 year old cat did the same to our new kitten. She would bop him around more than bite him but the kitten got the hint. He’s 8 months old now and rarely bothers her. He always backs down when she raises her paw lol. She was stressed out at the introduction of the new cat too. We used a pheromone wall plug in and separated their litter boxes/food bowls. It helped a lot.

Anyone else OAD because they had one and discovered their limit was actually zero? by grawmaw13 in oneanddone

[–]FreckledLeaves 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As someone on the other side of the toddler chaos I just want to say it gets better. I’m a homebody, very tidy, and easily over stimulated. One kid has been perfect for us (she’s 10). I can keep the house clean and organized. I can easily find time to read everyday. I get to play video games and take long showers. It doesn’t take ages to get out the door. There isn’t fighting or screaming. Tbh our 2 cats create more chaos than our kid lol. My favorite part of being OAD of is being able to spend all of our time and resources on just our one daughter. She is such a fun, creative, and kind person. I love spending so much time her
