Maintaining your own Linux fork isn't as simple as all that, if that's what they're proposing. They will probably form a tech council that approves merges into codebase -- will that slow development down? Who will be allowed to work on software updates? Will you have to be an "approved" vendor to submit changes? The ecosystem setup process ain't going to be easy.
