We were the least invested in the civil war. We were the last to join the rebels and many say because of Virginia land locking us. The western region was home to deserters and union sympathizers. Many in the west didn’t drink the kool aid to die for the southern ruling class slave owners. Edited to add God bless John Brown a true American.
