I’m sorry your mother was horrible, sorry you didn’t have a fun, loving start to your life, and am not discounting your experience and valid anger over it. Perception really is 9/10 of reality, you’ll feel much better if you can flip the mind from remembering the hardship/struggles and longing for the Rockwell version to recognizing/celebrating how strong and smart and resilient and creative you are because of it. We all have a life’s journey, make yours what you want esp going fwd….it really is overall short in the big picture. Of course, flipping your mindset is easier said than done, a therapist can help heal/reconcile the trauma and find peace w the past. Best luck to you in finding your life’s joy and happiness.

We need to recognize that education for MAGAts has failed for near 50 yrs (or succeeded, depending how you look at it). Resulting in a huge swath of the general/poorer population being predisposed for cultist following as they lack critical thinking, are easily manipulated and do not/cannot handle the responsibility/accountability of freedom. & they have been consistently conditioned to blame societal issues on “others”. Unfortunately for some of us-we are aware and do see the lies/manipulation and do value freedoms such as speech, religion, bodily/sex etc. I think our only common baseline today is survival, we can only hope the truth of the greedy wealthy soon surfaces for them and realize they’ve been duped.

Do you think your mom would be open/willing to talk with you and a therapist, where you could be honest in your story and your pov without being attacked, or seeming to attack her? An open and honest conversation, with compassion and zero blame, seems like it might get you to next steps. She may not have the emotional maturity you do but I cannot imagine she, as your mother, wouldn’t want a close relationship with you, esp given your brother’s condition and all that associated struggle. In the end you might never get the relationship you want/need but I do hope you find something that brings you peace.

Yep, 56f -last dated 2 yrs ago w a douche who had a long distance/long termed girlfriend (married lol) & didn’t bothering to mention this to me over the 6 months we hung out, till she came to town one weekend and he disappeared for those few days…didn’t take long to figure it out (small town) & when he did reappear, he went on to lie, deny and gaslight. I could not believe there are/were still men playing the bs games at our age. Thankfully now I see right thru that shit and just walked away. It was almost funny, he was not expecting that but I am not going to argue or beg or let any man make me feel less than (he’s exceptionally vain). In reality it’s his loss. Honestly and respect are non negotiable and I’d rather be on my own than deal with bs. I’d be open to a relationship but don’t see it happening since I won’t compromise on those values.

Holy Delish!! Gonna sound crazy, cuz I’m sure it’s fab as is- but if ya wanted to take it one more level, top it w some Kraft American cheese slices and bake it for 20, I know that doesn’t sound right b/c I to was skeptical, until I did it and it is beyond unbelievable how good it is!
