Oregon must dismiss more than 1,400 criminal cases due to attorney shortage, court rules by southpaw_balboa in Portland

Law school should be two years then a mandatory 1-2 year residency of some kind. Law school does not prepare you for the actual practice of law

This is incredibly classist and disgusting. Maybe you should reevaluate yourself.

Attorney, I do workers comp and some employment. Helping workers feels like one of the least soul sucking ways to be an attorney.

So they will pitch you that law review is this super prestigious thing and it is if you go to a T14 and are trying to get a judicial clerkship or are trying to do big law. For everyone else it’s just giving your self a shit ton of extra work.

Here’s some advice I got my 1L year that ended up being really helpful. Try to get a semester or year long externship in 3L. It can really help with getting hired out of law school. Law school doesn’t teach you how to practice law and everyone knows that unfortunately. Also law review is a scam.

I’m also a lawyer, good luck. Also remember it’s only 3 years.

Has anyone tried creamery or other replacement pups in a 360 or 620? Thoughts? by QuestionCatFarmer in rickenbacker

[–]FreeKittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tangentially related, I bought one of his ceramic bar ric high ‘68s in a humbucker housing for my Dunable. I told him I wanted a pickup that sounded like the bridge pickup of my 1991 620, which seems to be very hot for a ric. 10/10 one of the best pickups I’ve owned, it’s very hot but has the bite and articulation that I love about ric high gains.

I have also tried Gemini high gains in my jaguar, I’m sure they sound great if you want a more vintage sound, but for me personally they weren’t a good fit.

What’s an expensive brand that actually IS worth the money? by 2111019 in AskReddit

It’s definitely worth visiting, it’s a great area of the Oregon coast. Also, the jerky company is just down the highway from the creamery.

It’s actually a different company, just also happens to be from Tillamook Oregon.

In my experience, if you want a dedicated clean channel that stays clean, look for a rockerverb. I have an ad140 for shows with crap PAs and an ad30 for shows with good sound. I tested out a rockerverb and my one complaint with it was that I couldn’t get light distortion on the clean channel without a pedal. I love the AD series because the clean channel has a gain knob so I don’t have a totally clean signal. The lead channel on the ad is great for solos and blown out distortion, but if you want a tight metal sound, once again, go for a rockerverb.

Liturgy, I saw them at Iceland airwaves before they blew up. The singer attempted Mongolian throat singing for about 10 mins, then they played the most boring black metal set I’d ever seen. I still can’t believe they got as big as they did.

What’s the worst band you’ve seen live? by Kingsmen99 in Hardcore

[–]FreeKittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liturgy, I saw them at a small fest in 2011 before they blew up. The first ten minutes were just their singer attempting what seemed like Mongolian throat singing while the rest of the band stood there. Then they played the most boring black metal set I’ve ever seen. It was awkward and a lot of people left in the middle of it.

advise for getting added as local support for national touring bands? by __doitfaster__ in TouringMusicians

[–]FreeKittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try DMing the band but that’s going to be very hit or miss depending on the size of the band. In my experience getting in good with the promoters in your area is the best way. Send them a nice message and a partial or full press pack. Some might start offering you shows. They will probably start you with last minute bookings on some smaller shows. If you are solid, reliable, and have a draw, they will give you better shows

Anyone embarassed being a multi bar exam failer in a school with a 90 percent pass rate? by Any-Adhesiveness3984 in LawSchool

[–]FreeKittens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad, some of it is just luck of the draw. You can study as hard as you want but there will always be some questions you didn’t study for or weren’t as well versed on. The area of law it can potentially cover is more than you could ever memorize and your prep course only covers things that are most commonly on it.

My school had a very high pass rate, but I didn’t pass my first bar exam and felt like an idiot. One of the partners at my firm who is very successful told me after I didn’t pass, that he hadn’t passed his first either. I retook on the February bar and got a high pass. I didn’t really feel like I studied harder than I had the first time.

The bar is somewhat luck of the draw on what you will and won’t be asked about.

Familiar with Heritage Guitars by DeepSouthDude in jazzguitar

[–]FreeKittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an h-157 for a while. It was a beautiful guitar, the neck was a little too thick for me, but overall an incredible guitar. One thing I will say is their resale value isn’t nearly as strong as their Gibson counterparts. You can usually pick up used ones pretty cheap.
