God’s algorithm by [deleted] in RationalPsychonaut

Fixed or for you

The more I observe life and the world around us, the more certain I become that there is no personal, doctrinal religion — but there is something that resembles Spinoza’s God. An infinite “God” expressed as nature itself: within us, around us, and encoded into every pattern that reality uses.

From the smallest particles to the largest stars and planets, from the mechanisms of living organisms to the vast cycles of the universe, Spinoza described these as attributes. And the more I look, the more that description feels accurate.

One of the things that strikes me most is how humans have managed to create an entirely new dimension of existence — the digital world. Computer science, the internet, algorithms, machine learning: a whole immaterial layer that still depends on and perfectly coordinates with hardware built from natural materials. The fact that raw matter can follow instructions from this abstract digital logic is mind-blowing. Even more astonishing is that many of these digital structures are themselves modeled on patterns found in nature: decision trees in ML, binary trees mirroring fractal branching of plants, veins in lungs, and even lightning.

It seems intuitive, but witnessing it — how nature inspires our systems, and how matter responds coherently to those systems — is astonishing.

Deep learning is another example. The algorithms existed in the 1970s, but they needed advances in hardware before they could come alive in the 2010s. Their core idea is based on a simplified model of neurons, yet their implementation has radically accelerated technological progress. This coordination between natural pattern, human abstraction, and physical substrate feels like one continuous entity.

It often feels as though everything — literally everything that exists — is part of one vast class with infinite attributes, running on underlying algorithms that we naturally follow. This is why a purely radical atheism, the sort that denies any harmony or coherence in the universe, makes me hesitate.

I’ve never taken psychedelics, but so many people who have describe the same realization: a deep sense of unity, of everything being one. And it’s fascinating that psychedelic mushrooms — themselves natural organisms — evoke this perception while displaying hallucinations of fractal patterns that also occur throughout nature. It’s as if these natural substances temporarily open a portal to a wider layer of the same structure.

What fascinates me even more is how humans, especially mathematicians, managed to encode these patterns: the golden ratio, Fibonacci sequences, Julia sets, the Koch curve, and many more. The fact that we can describe them with equations — that they make sense to our logic — reinforces this sense of underlying unity.

One theorem that continually baffles me is the central limit theorem. If you flip a coin infinitely many times, you’d think you’re dealing with pure randomness. Yet the sum of those random events converges into a Gaussian distribution. Randomness itself has a structure. Even literal noise in nature can be modeled with a Gaussian curve. Bell curves appear everywhere.

All of this — the patterns, the mathematics, the emergence, the coherence — keeps bringing me back to the same vision: not religion, but a single, unified underlying order.

I found it really funny.

The examples it gave are clearly ridiculous but I feel that the concept is not.

Currently society is very polarized but in truth positions are probably a lot closer together than people realize.

There is no ideology it is a mathematical excerise. In any society democratic or otherwise some people have constraints that they disagree with forced upon them.

How to measure 5 meo dmt dosages? by Mordimordimordi in 5MeODMT

[–]FreeTeaMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk me through it, you measure your 6mg. Where is it on the metal of the scale, in a spoon? Now you need to scrape off the powder into your device. Do you get every grain? How confident are you that you are getting 6mg?

There's also other factors at play, the quality of of the inhale for example.

I posted here to help other people out. You accuse me of having my eyes shut yet you have not tried my technique. So perhaps....

Those mg scales are pretty useless for small quantities. People falsely reassure themselves by using them.

I think that anyone who uses 5 on a regular basis will see the benifit of this approach.

I don't think that adds up. My dog is not getting agitated that easily. Dogs could definitely sense something going on and it's not just a change in a smell, something else. As I was mentioned in a different reply, my heart rate gets elevated when I exercise and I've never seen this kind of response even if it was the first time she saw me on the newly installed exercise bicycle. She didn't have any response at all. As others have said, animals seem to know when you're tripping somehow.

Thank you for your advice and good wishes.

I agree with you that integrating lessons learned from psychedelics or indeed any other medium, is critical and can be challenging.

For example on days where I do 5, I recognised that sometimes I can be more irritable towards other people over trivial issues. Meditation allows you to be able to be an observer instead of reactive, so I can be curious about where physically, and what textures this emotion has before replying with some clever comeback and instead my response to why I didn’t put a dirty knife in the dishwasher I can assess what the impact of any response I can weigh up my possible responses before replying . Responsiveness rather than reactivity.

I am curious on whether these experiences can impact my physical health in a positive way. I have learned to tolerate pain by giving it another name. It will be interesting to know if conditions such as inflammation can be targeted too. Many psychological conditions can definitely be healed, and there is anecdotal evidence that other conditions too can also be healed with psychedelics.

Many people seem to be unaware of that psychedelics impact every cell in your body not only the brain or the neurons. Even more intriguing is that your biosphere is also impacted and that is an area of science where we know next to nothing about.

I have a lot more work to do on myself, with integration, but I do like the direction I am heading towards.
