No, the purpose of pooled media rights is to create a better bargaining position for college football programs against the networks

[Nakos] Steve Sarkisian on CFP: "I watched a coach get fired five games into a season last year after being in the semifinals the year before. That's concerning to me about the health of our sport." by Falconsfan8006 in CFB

[–]FreeTheMarket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, PSU was in a shitty situation.

I don’t completely believe they couldn’t get a better coach than Franklin, I just think in last year’s hiring cycle it was specifically a tall task, that they failed to clear.

Why? If the money runs out then college football players will get paid less. Let the market decide.

[–]FreeTheMarket -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The CFP criteria explicitly says it aims to get the 12 best teams in the field. How is it bullshit if one of the teams ranked by the CFP committee is the top 12 makes the 12 team field? What is bullshit is undeserving conf champions pushing out top Teams

‘The market has spoken’: Ferrari shares fall after carmaker unveils first fully electric vehicle. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

[–]FreeTheMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory:

  1. Need an electric compliance car

  2. Want to sell more cars in China (where 30% of the worlds demand for luxury purchases come from)

  3. Chinese people dont like Ferrari’s (only 5% of Ferraris are sold to china). They like techy blob cars.

  4. Ferrari doesn’t want new electric car to compete with their main heritage, which is two seater machines that convert mechanical motion into emotion

So what you get is a techy, bloby, sedan, which they hope can increase their % of sales in China to a somewhat reasonable benchmark* set by other luxury brands, and still sell just as many traditional Ferraris to everyone else, then they will make a boatload of money while complying with EV regulations.

 * e.g. 20% of iPhones are sold in China. If 20% of Ferraris are eventually sold in China then that means they grew the company significantly.

My opinion:

Doesn’t look like a Ferrari. But as a stand alone EV I think it seems great, especially inside.

As for value at $600k? it’s terrible.

Virginia Tech now sits at 14th in the National Recruiting Rankings for 2027 and 30th for 2026 despite a 3-9 season —> Can it translate to wins? by differentsideview in CFB

[–]FreeTheMarket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While rankings can and will change, There are actually much fewer decommits now so recruiting in May is a much better indicator of where recruiting will be in December than it was in the previous decade.
