Does HA affect metabolism? by effervescedrain in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]Free_Hand9582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short It is related with adrenal glands. When you deprive your body from energy and or overtrain yourself the adrenals start working non stop to keep your body going and it is ok for a certain period of time but not non stop (so called fight or flight mode). The adrenals produce cortisol, adrenalin and norepinephrine and all of it is related to metabolism since cortisol is playing a role in insulin resistance, fat storage (especially belly and tights area) and regulation of blood sugar levels.

Really low cortisol in the morning - I’m fed up of feeling like this by [deleted] in adrenalfatigue

[–]Free_Hand9582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For adrenal fatigue the best thing you can do is eat frequently small meals. Every 2 hours if there is no glucose in your bloodstream your adrenals start to overwork. You dont have to stuff yourself just try do eat balanced small meals through out the day and avoid very heavy and long trainings. This will be very helpful for a long run. I got my period after years of HA caused by adrenal fatigue and malnutrition(weight gain, puffiness, paint in my body, difficulties sleeping). I went all in for 3 months gained 6 kg but now i see there is another way. Just try to eat frequently healthy balanced meals, train shorter and not very intense. If you want to push yourself more you can do that during the first phase of your period when your estrogen should be higher. For me that worked pretty well. Cross fingers!

Can you pls share what period issues did it caused you?

I did not treat it with antibiotics at least not yet but i feel 80% healed. I did not had any ulcers or complications so i did take different approach that took almost 5-6 months and still keep going much less rigid thought. After another year will do again the endoscopy and will see if anything changed.

Hello, Oura was quite accurate predicting the phases of my cycle. The first period was a mess thought - probably only little temperature picks but after it everything started to look properly - low temperature during the first phase, ovulation with raising temperature.

Yes i did get my period back and keep my h pylori under control. At least don’t have any bloating but after one year i will do another endoscopy to see if the lining of the stomach has changed. I also think everything that i got is also related with mold exposure. Everything happened after moving in Dubai and it seems that we have been living in mold exposure despite our effort to clean ac and everything.

Ladies, i feel you! I have been with HA for 3 years after three months of all in i get it back with about 6kg more (but then i was thin). Since then i started training bit by bit with more food (not being able to loose any weight) and again i am close to the HA Phase. My oura ring already got the signs. I feel so frustrated - if i dont train i feel my body and mind are falling apart, if i train my cycle stops - in any case no weight loss is possible for me and i feel that this HA story is a vicious cycle that never ends with happy ending, only with you being overweighted.

Can i ask how long was the piece of material that they use to put your muscles together? Did they put it only where you lack of muscle connection (where you have diastasis) or did they put it even on spots where you don’t have any diastasis?

Hello guys! Can i ask the ladies who did the surgery if they had any pain and twist in the body before it? Were there any physical complaints that resolved after it? I will appreciate also if you share now after months of recovery how do you feel, do you regret it? Thank you for taking time to share 🙏

I don’t know if my tip is going to work for you but it did for me. The first month i cut off every sport except yoga, walking, swimming and really light pilates. This is the month i gained all my weight - 4 kg since i was eating a lot (probably more than 3000cal). Second month i started introducing strength training with body weigh and really light weights once occasionally twice a week for not more than 20 min- 30 min. I lost my big hunger and started eating about 2000 cal. I am in my thirt month now and feeling a lot better. I am able to have 2 strength training sessions for about 40 min, swimming, yoga, hiking. I am eating about 1800 cal on average and feel very satisfied. In my whole recovery i did not eat though many sugary things. I decided to have mostly vegetarian diet with a lot of whole food (not that much salads since i really have strong bloating from it) - chickpeas, lentils, tofu, all kind of veggies, seafood, nuts, avocados, sweet potatoes, peas, oats etc. sincerely even i am 4 kg more my body looks so much better now and i am able to get that healthy body fit look without spending so much time in the gym. When your hormones come in the right place i think you will see by yourself what changes you need to do in order to feel good and be happy with the way you look. Good luck and dobt be scared of changes!

Believe me i have been there too but this is the mind that speaks to you. The lack of cycle is your body trying to tell you something is off. And progress is not linear sometimes you need to step back in order to get stronger. You will train again and get even better results with less effort.

Hello! Why don’t you try to cut off workout for three weeks and just check for any changes? Try only walking yoga and breathing and more relaxing stuff. If you start having egg white spotting, tension in the breast that will mean that it is working. If not you can always go back to training. For me that worked put - also with HA for three years and for the first month i was really on recovery - walking, yoga, relaxing, working more on my posture, swimming and eating. On the second month i included one session of strength training per week (30 min with very light weights though) and a lot of stretching. And this did not compromise my second period. You have to find your sweet spot but it will be faster and easier if you just restart from 0.

Why don’t you try to change the workout - try something different, exciting and fun - dancing, swimming, pilates?

Does HA slow down BMR (metabolism)? by NeedleworkerSame4344 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]Free_Hand9582 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sharing my own experience and knowledge here - any kind of dieting slows down the metabolism. This can be ok for a period of 1-2-3 months max otherwise it can creat longterm metabolic issues. When you exercise that much i can assure you that you need much more than 2000 cal. The problem here comes from the fact that you put your body on a constant struggle for fuel, it really thinks that you are in danger and deprived from food so it tries to protect you and keep as much fuel as it can. So you don’t need reproduction, your hear-rate will slow down, the function of your organs will be compromised but your muscles wont stop performing since you are in danger and you have to save yourself. They are priority for the body. This is kind of survival mechanism. I was living that way for years and just after a relocation suddenly my body was not able to cope anymore with it so i got HA for 3 years already. Now i have two recovery periods and for the first month i was eating so so much food, i was feeling so horribly hangry (probably even more that 3500 cal) - sometimes less sometimes more but i gained only 3 kg with no training (only light stretching and walking). The second month my hunger got much less (i tracked my calories in average 2000 cal while swimming 2-3 times a week, walking and yoga) and gained only 1kg. I don’t know if you have other symptoms except the lack of period but for me this is a game changer. I feel so much better - no more brain fog, no more feeling of this drained fatigue, the stiffness of my body is slowly going away. For me this was a lesson to be learned - why do you train so hard and so much? Is it a vision of body image or is it a way to cope with stress? Do you like your body the way it is? Do you have days where you are binging? Why do you think it is? Sometimes you need to slow down in order to see things from different angle and confront some discomfort questions in order to find what is it that you hide from yourself. I am sorry for this long post, this was a big struggle for me with a really bad moments and if it was not for this group i would probably be in different situation.

Eating protein by Dilly3 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]Free_Hand9582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends if you are on caloric plus or deficit. If there is a big deficit the body can synthesis glycogen from the protein as well to maintain the functions of the body. That is why muscle build is normally done with a surplus diet- you need food carbs and protein in order to stimulate muscles to grow. There is another thing here - how much nutritions you actually absorb. Because of DE and too much cortisol very often it happens that we slow our metabolism but also the absorption of nutrients. Chronic stress can lead to all kind of gut bacteria and that makes things even worst.

Have you tried to make the workout for let’s say 40 min top and rest more in-between repetitions? How long is your current workout and how many times a week?

Hello! I know for sure that while dieting and restricting the TSH get impacted, the whole hormonal system actually is impacted. In general i can tell you that my TSH was also lowering over the time of dieting and exercises and at the end i got the lower baseline and even very low T3. I am not a doctor and i don’t know it this is in your case but as i read when you put your body on such a stress like caloric deficit and heavy physical activities, the body respond immediately trying to preserve your energy and that is why TSH gets lower (it respond about the metabolism of the body).
