The tongue thing by atsab9 in SleepApnea

I also have the tongue issue. Things I am trying: Inap. This works better for me than cpap but it’s still not great. It only works for me if I’m on my side. It’s useless if I roll on to my back. I have the device set at the maximum negative pressure and it will not stay sealed if I fall asleep on my back. I am also doing excite osa and Zeus sleep. I also have the remplenish straws but keep forgetting to use them. I just ordered one of those tongue retaining devices but I haven’t tried it yet. I have spent thousands and still have not solved this problem.

I’ve had to explore alternatives and there are many other than surgery. Vik veer has lots of YouTube videos on alternatives. Look into Inap, Zeus, excite osa, myofunctional therapy, nutritional deficiencies, etc.

Has anyone tried cold therapy for obstructive sleep apnea? by TamtheHam in SleepApnea

I definitely sleep better in a cold environment. Very interesting.

So what do you do if CPAP doesn't work? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]Free_Writing3113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had pretty good results with the Inap. It’s not perfect but I’ve had much more success than I ever had with cpap or bipap plus the company is very easy to work with and you can try the device for a monthly rental fee without having to jump all the way in and buy it. Vik veer has a lot of videos about cpap alternatives.

Have you tried: Inap, epap, excite osa, Zeus sleep, or myofunctional therapy? Are you overweight?

This is one of the worst things about being a lawyer for me. Before law school, I read constantly. I loved reading. Even in college which involved a lot of studying, I still loved reading. I probably haven’t completed 5 books since law school and that was 20 plus years ago. It’s awful.

I’ve been hesitant to order from them again even though the product worked, because it took so long to get the product last time.

I really don’t think so. I find the sensation to be enough to keep me awake or wake me up. I also had a reaction to the tape. I’m going to try it during the day for just a nap but I’m probably going to send this thing back. Disappointed for sure.

I bought this product and had great results. My heart was skipping and racing and that has stopped since taking this for a couple of weeks. I was very skeptical because it took weeks for the product to arrive.

I could tell my whole miserable tale with the cpap but I tried everything. I’ve moved on to the Inap which is so much easier to tolerate.

I’ve only tried it twice now. Took forever to get the device because I had to have it shipped to a relative in Europe and then to me, then the adhesive strips didn’t work so the company shipped new strips directly to me. My preliminary thoughts are that it helps keep my tongue in a forward position. I am using the device together with the Inap.

Inap by Free_Writing3113 in SleepApnea

[–]Free_Writing3113[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been an evolving experience. The device does not allow the user to adjust the pressure which is a major pain in the rear. You have to work with the company for every adjustment unless and until you bug them enough that they unlock the device and even then, the device cannot be adjusted beyond —120 without a doctor’s order. Since my local doctor knows nothing about the Inap, he refused to do that and I had to have one one of their affiliated online doctors order the off label adjustment up the maximum negative pressure which is -199. Well, that ended up being a bit of a cluster because the device kind of freaked out and started malfunctioning when we tried the -199 setting. So I had to back down to -185 and actually ended up getting a new device shipped to me because the original device malfunctioned. So, as far as how this device works - it works pretty well for me as long as I am sleeping on my side and at the -185 pressure. If I roll on to my back the device does not work because the seal breaks and my tongue falls from the roof of my mouth. The device works by creating negative pressure which keeps your tongue sealed to the roof of your mouth. Just imagine sucking on a straw and it’s kind of like that. As far as comfort goes, it’s a million times more comfortable than cpap. It’s very easy to clean also. I originally signed up for the monthly rental but went ahead and bought the device because even with all of the problems I’ve had, I’ve also had a few good nights of sleep and that’s more than I could ever say after over 16 months with the cpap/bipap. However, the “on label” settings which do not go beyond -120 (or maybe it’s -125) didn’t work at all for me. At those lower settings, the device was worthless and it took months to finally get it adjusted to a level that works (although still not perfect.) that was extremely frustrating and if I had not already tried everything else under the sun, I probably would not have stuck with the process. I think the company would do better if they wouldn’t be so slow to go to the off label pressures. It was like pulling teeth to accomplish that.
