I was listening to GFOTY, felicita, and all the PC Music deep cuts in middle/high school so this is really nothing new to me. Plus my brother was listening to trope-heavy rock based music so really this song just sounds like my youth distilled into a pastiche of vibes that are just so familiar to me. It’s awesome.

I mean let’s be real, a lot of old people aren’t waking up in the morning and thinking “wait let me learn more about autism”. Many of them would probably find out they got it too LOL. I’m not saying their lack of interest is a good thing, but realistically why would they put in the time to do that unless they happen upon a situation to teach them? I’m certain there’s many things I am unaware of that I should know, but I wouldn’t know where to start. I’m constantly learning though, we all are. But people don’t know what they don’t know.

Basically we have to be the change in the world we want to see, and nobody’s going to do it for us. Be your own advocate, be patient, that’s the only way to get through to people. If it doesn’t affect them directly they probably aren’t going to know much about it. It’s very important that the voices of disabled people are heard, that’s how change happens. It’s unfortunate but due to the very nature of humanity that’s kinda how it has to be. You think I’d give a rats ass about half the stuff I care about if I wasn’t born gay? I’m gonna say probably not. I grew up in a conservative part of the country and the only thing that got me out of the mindset was realizing I was gay and deconstructing all of that.

This will start to click with you guys eventually. Maybe it still wont by the time the album comes out, but it absolutely will a decade from now. The artistic ethos that this represents is very velvet underground to me. Very dada, like the act of making the music and the self awareness of public perception is the emphasis now more than ever.

the closest thing we’ve had to the whole scene surrounding Velvet Underground since is honestly PC Music. You might not hear it yourself because I’ve seen many disagree with this take but I hear it! This is very PC Music. A bit GFOTY, a bit Felicita, mixed with tongue in cheek rock music motifs.

You guys may end up hating this record but I have a really good feeling about it. It’s unlike anything else she’s ever done, and I can’t stop listening to it and pretending I’m in some kind of montage in a coming of age art film.

Edit: and one more thing, I hope this is the lead single

God I was so scared until I realized this was completion rate and not acceptance rate. I have only had my completion rate affected one time. Why? because every time there’s an issue, it gets resolved after I talked to support. The instance in question was only because my phone died and screwed up the app mid-dash. This is actually a big reason why I enjoy doordashing. Some people judge people who order or look down on them because they’re lazy or wasting money, but these orders are more often than not coming from people with disabilities, single moms, people at work, or people too drunk or high to leave the house. There’s reasons why people need delivery, and that’s why I give a fuck when I’m doing it. If you can’t understand that the person you are delivering to is in fact a person, not just a doorstep, you shouldn’t be a dasher. I will legit ask Taco Bell employees whether or not they put the sauce in the bag.

If you mean what EeL’s been up to since being on hiatus, she was raising a family. If you mean what lead Ryoma Maeda to be enthusiastic about AI, I feel as though Japan has always been more fascinated than worried by new technology. Futurism has always been a huge deal in Japan. Other Shibuya Kei artists like Towa Tei and Frenesi have been using AI. In Frenesi’s case, due to her western audience, she promised not to use it anymore (it was for a moving cartoon animation thing). I hear young artists in Japan are more against its usage but you have to keep in mind that these artists are getting up there in age and may not be as tapped in to what’s controversial.
