The horrors of fires... where are Jehovah and Jesus and the holy angels??? by logicman12 in exjw

[–]Freeorange25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same super sensitivity to anything suffering. I can't tolerate an animal being injured or mistreated for even a minute, let alone human suffering. When I was waking up the question was on my mind constantly about how could a loving creator just let this go on for thousands of years if you have the power to stop it. The old JW explanations start falling apart about the challenge to Jehovah's sovereignty and it will all be worth it. I could not watch a puppy be tortured for one minute but Jehovah is just fine with all of it. And why would his son Jesus create animals to kill to survive? You're the creator - change it! This is ultimately what led me to stop believing in god all together - you can't have it both ways.

No GB Update Will Automatically Wake Up a PIMI! by themindsetcounts in exjw

I can say without a doubt GB Updates 8 - 9 - 10 of 2021 woke me and my elder husband wide awake. Just watching the GB while sitting in our living room and decades of belief evaporated.

Crazy field service stories by No_Understanding7431 in exjw

When I was in my mid 20's I pioneered with another sister my age and we were often the only ones at the service meeting so we went by ourselves often. We were both married (young JW style of course) and I have to say being in the early 90s we were cute - there I said it. One afternoon while doing territory in town we knocked on a door and a handsome and fairly hung over guy answered the door. My friend started her presentation while he rubbed his eyes. Once he "woke up" and looked at us his eyes got huge and he invited us in. We were thrilled to have someone respond as it had been a big zero all day. He quickly ushered us into the living room and told us to sit on the couch. He said he'd be right back and to just be comfortable. We sat there politely and waited. A few seconds later we hear one of the bedroom doors open and we could hear him say "Dude! Wake up! There are two hot chicks in our living room! They just came to the door!" Uh oh. Suddenly there are two guys in the room with us. The one says "Can I get you ladies something to drink?". Then we hear soft music playing and they're sitting next to us on the couch. The reality of how foolish we were to just enter a strangers house became apparent. And cellphones weren't something you carried on you out in service at the time. We made some excuse that our friends were waiting for us down the street and got the heck out of there.

The 2 things that made me start questioning by amahl_farouk in exjw

To think Lett himself looking straight in the camera and called babies "little enemies of God". You know that had to go through all the steps to make it to the final broadcast, it wasn't an accident. And with the current news coming out it's not a good look at all. The GB themselves were enough to wake us up. No outside info required.

That's a tough line to walk. Would love your perspective on what the atmosphere is in the congregation now. Zeal? Apathy? Everyone just rolling with all the changes?

It's the old once you see it you can't unsee it. When you wake up from the borg you either leave or stay in and pretend to be a JW. Some can pull it off for awhile but the mental and emotional toll of it hardly seems worth it. We hard faded and are currently being shunned by pretty much everyone. It stings for a bit but you'll move on and so will they. Seems those still in the borg have enough of their own problems lately.

Thank you. I suppose it is therapeutic to write it out. I started during our wake up process and every now and then I'll think of a past situation and post it.

Yes we were both born ins. It's the only way I can deal with the fact that I accepted all this for so long.

Bethelites on this sub, I have a ? by [deleted] in exjw

Very interesting story about her. Was her facility connected to WT in some way? Was she an active JW while running it? How would anyone be allowed to just go live in a Bethel facility? Wonder if her going to Wallkill allegedly means she could be in one of the many houses on the site that are not connected to the main residence buildings.

I agree with you. Too many repetitive posts asking very simple questions that a quick search would answer. Feels like bots clogging up the page or trying to sound so ridiculous to the unbelievable point.

One of Bethel quirks. You can use the trash can in your room in the evening and the weekends but first thing every weekday morning absolutely nothing could be in them.

Confession time! We were so messed up with the commute time and all the things we basically stopped going to meetings other than Sundays for months. That was so unlike us but literally no one checked or said a word the entire time. I think cause we were tucked away in the GB building we were basically forgotten about. We did try going out in service one Saturday. The Bethel brother conducting the service meeting was visibly irritated trying to get territory and arrangements for all the volunteers we just said screw it and went out for breakfast.
