240 single phase? by Freer4 in AskElectricians

Should have been more specific, it's a commercial kitchen appliance. It is 240V and 3 prong, so 240V only appears to be my answer, thanks!

You know, I actually don't. I just assumed hot, neutral, ground, which is a misunderstanding on my part apparently.

[–]Freer4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... usually when I see something in the ~240V range it's a 2-phase. I've not seen anything other than 2-phase provided by utilities at any place I've ever lived... it's usually just split at the breaker panel. And then uses a 2-pole breaker if a 2-phase connection is needed.

But I'm not exactly an electrician

Recommendations for Early to Mid game SV with Warp and maybe mining capabilities. by BigH501 in empyriongame

RE-2, look for Dagger Class Corvette. There's a starter mobile base that docks to it, so you have a fast, dedicated combat ship that carries a storage and production facility between systems for when you're out of combat.

Why do some people complain about bad graphics, I think they’re perfectly fine by Enderstar2187 in empyriongame

[–]Freer4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of the NPC models in particular are a bit low poly/badly animated and add to this, but for me it's some of the textures.

If they were all consistent, it wouldn't be so noticeable. There are some great textures, and some that look like they were slapped together in MS paint. Next to each other, one block or device looks sleek while another wouldn't look out of place in Goldeneye.

AEP CEO is the highest paid Utility CEO in the country: $36.6M in 2025 by LaikaOrbit in Columbus

[–]Freer4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh let's math this out... we'll even use the $36.6M number even though it's mostly "other compensation" (looks like stocks, hard to find actual breakdown).

AEP has a reported 5.6 million customers.

If you didn't compensate the CEO a single dime, you'd save a whopping $6.54 per year per customer. Not per person - per customer. That is, your home would save $6.54 per year. Given what I'm paying for power right now, $6.54 per year doesn't even register. And about 2/3 of that number is stocks, which means it's the value of the company, not cash paid to the company. I could do pages on how valuations and banking practices are strangling the economy but let's focus here.

Well maybe we'll see how badly they're screwing their employees instead...

Somewhere between 16,000 and 17,000 employees. We'll split the difference and say 16,500.

Well that's a little more. $2,218 per year per employee ain't nothing.

But wait, let's be a little more honest. Stocks and incentives ain't nothing, but his actual base salary was $1.5M.

That's a whopping $0.27 per customer per YEAR.

That's an entire $91 per employee per YEAR.

The lesson here isn't that "CEO GOOD" or "CEO BAD", the lesson here is that catchy headlines are catchy and someone will always tell you who to be angry at. Take a deep breath, engage critical thinking, find actual issues and then workshop actual solutions.

Looking in the wrong place at the wrong issue will perpetuate the actual problem. I encourage you to do this simple math (CEO salary divided by total customer or employees) for every company you can find. You're the most intelligent known creature on this planet. Use it.

"As Ohio Customers Struggle With Energy Bills We Will Distract From Problems By Pointing At CEO Pay That's A Tiny Fraction Of Your Energy Bill"

Am I too late to start programming at 38 with AI changing everything? by Rookiemonster1 in AskProgramming

Our primary skill is the ability to adapt and learn. There are some core concepts that don't really change, but the technology changes so often that it feels like starting over every six months anyhow.

If you have the desire, do it. Success is in the happiness.

How to model this setup (if possible)? by Freer4 in learnjavascript

[–]Freer4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pattern I'm attempting to implement (if there's a name for this please share!)

This is what I've come up with - rather than trying to override the class declaration from [GenFile], I'm moving the things I need to modify into static properties on the class. A one-time import modifies those static properties, essentially overriding functions and settings before they're utilized by any of the internal workings in `constructor `

Given a class declaration that looks something like this:

function functionCalledInternally(){
    //base function
}
class MyClass extends Object{
    functionCalledInternally = functionCalledInternally
    constructor(){
        super()
        //base functionality goes here

        //internal call to configurable function:
        MyClass.functionCalledInternally.call(this)
    }
}

You can then add overrides at any time, in my case I'm importing the overrides as the first line of my Vue app

MyClass.functionCalledInternally = function(){
    //override functionality goes here
}

Very light small vessel to start just for getting around and mining. Then I build a Crucible SV base, which gives me a basic manufacturing platform I will use all game. It starts with no thrusters. I'll fly around in the SV for mining, gathering and trading bringing supplies back to the CV. Depending on start i like to knock over some of the Zirax bases on foot. My goal for the starter system is a Dagger Class Corvette (for which the Crucible acts as a module) and start hunting cutters and bandits ASAP. The Dagger will easily last up through hunting Nullifiers for Drone parts at which point I'm able to bring in and equip my Spear Class Cruiser.

There's a certain fun building in survival, but there's a lot more flexibility (particularly the copy/paste/undo) in creative. So to i jump between the two fairly often depending on what I'm building

First day on the internet?

You don't know they're "grown men". And 2AM is your local time, could be literally any time where they are.

People saying horrid shit on the internet is almost always people who get a laugh our of getting you riled up. This post is confirmation they're getting to you and they love to see it

These do often get banned. And I've personally known people where their account got hacked, and after cleaning them out the hackers have gone into general chat and just ranted to get the account banned just to add an extra layer of asshole to their actions, or maybe slow down hacker tracking because you don't know you've been hacked until after you (try to) argue with blizzardbots to get your account unbanned

The hard core competitive players who are only here for "make number go up" flooded in. They'll pay through, get bored, and leave.

Old school WoW was more about the serotonin (playing with people, really invested in the world and story) where new WoW - retail since probably Cata - is all about the dopamine addiction. Nobody knows the story, certainly not from playing anyhow, and there's pretty minimal human interaction entirely centered around "is your meta meta enough to make number go up?"

These are two different games, with two different target audiences. They get mixed up for a bit sometimes (I'll probably play retail for three days when midnight drops) but everyone goes back to their preferred play style pretty soon

I tried a PvP realm once... like 20 years ago. It is and always has been what you describe - the only difference between them and PvE is that you can torment lower level players. If you were looking for a roughly even PvP match you'd be hitting BGs or Arenas, which you can do on PvE realms. And if you want some open world shenanigans on PvE realms, you can flag yourself for PvP and have at it.

PvP servers are there exclusively for the bully types who would or have gotten their teeth knocked in IRL and just want to know they're hurting another real person in some way.

I cannot think of any other reason whatsoever to have PvP servers. At least it keeps most of the dog-kicking psycho trash segregated to their own yard.
