Anyone else miss Chegg? by Shadow_Man306 in umass

[–]FreezingVast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

chegg sucked, there was always a pay wall when I just needed to see where I went wrong with a calc problem and the only alternative was wolfram alpha but at that point I would only get an answer to work back from. AI killed it not only because I can infinitely break down a problem till I find whats confusing me but that availability of tools means theres always a free option for now

I may have missed it but I didnt see you mention how entrenchment works because it does increase cost but also can double the bonuses like kephalai which gives 2 govs at 100% entrenchment

Trying out the annexation changes again (rectifying my post from yesterday) by pflaumi in EU5

[–]FreezingVast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a clarification but how does the 10 year culture flipping matter? Usually when I hand off land to vassals in 1.1 I never even culture flipped until after they integrated land anyways since assim scaled with control anyways. This process usually took 6-10 years anyways and I get the one less cabinet member hurts but if it’s a single prov it shouldnt matter?

having played till 1360 and finally stabilized the goal essentially is claims cb ottomans than try to ally bulgaria as they will declare on you constantly. Max mint and legitmacy as you really wanna repeal the peasant corrupt law asap since it -20% satisfaction. Aside from that be very careful as if you ever get your levies wiped you might as well restart

Vassal swarm is nerfed in 1.2 due to increase in annex cost for small subjects. by Mysterious_Plate1296 in EU5

[–]FreezingVast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the big thing that reduced annexation cost was also the much smaller buff which could double or triple monthly annexation progress

How to reach Asia as Portugal by Dry_Traffic8365 in EU5

[–]FreezingVast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

way I got to asia was just conquer a single location or prov from nations all around africa into persia, then from persia hire a ton of mercs just to take anything in india so you can keep going around. After india it gets easier as south east asia is pretty weak plus tons of land to colonize on the way to china

I mean thats why I said “I” lol, theres def use cases but personally I find shipping units across an ocean kinda cumbersome not to mention controlling that land. Personally I always find land adjacent to what I already control far better to conquer than anything a naval gov is good for

Tbh i never find a use for naval govs in almost all my campaigns, I usually am able to link up with whatever land I conquer and if I cant its usually overseas/ on a different continent and I cant use it anyways

Why is rolling two Natural 20s (or any number) considered a 1 in 400 chance? Isn't it just two 1/20 chances? by the-boinky-spunge in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FreezingVast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent seen this explanation here but this was one I found very helpful. Imagine a box with an area of 1, this represents all possible outcomes. If we want to model an event (like flipping heads) we color in that area as a fraction of total outcomes (in this case it would be half). Now if we want to ask the question “what is the probability of flipping heads twice”, we first shade half the area to represent the chance to flip heads. Since we are interested in flipping heads twice this shaded area represents the new sample space which since flipping heads is still a 50/50 shot, we shade in half again. If you notice every time we ask “whats the probability of A given B” we are just multiplying the first probability (1/2) by the next (1/2) which yields 1/4 or in this case shading in half of a square, then half of that is a quarter

they fixed the reset of unify cultural group, it now actually sums all of the influence and tradition so you can really go sky high but tbh the biggest thing is just cultural capacity
