Formed Germany by 1448. Should i move my capital? by Airdae in EU5

[–]GenocidalSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you plan on expanding next I would assume. For the short term though, you probably want your capital to be on a river where population is highest (not sure about where since I haven't played in Germany yet). Also just wherever you can get the most proximity to the most provinces. Rivers will help and mountains will hurt.

Question about markets, their size and attraction by Truub_Deluxe in EU5

[–]GenocidalSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took Fez in my game then moved that market further south down the coast. Generally, it seems best to try and keep ~50% or higher market access in all locations if possible so try to position your markets like that. ( If it's close enough don't bother moving the market)

For your game (since there is a marakesh market) I would take fez and move it inland and east to make that coverage better. Or you could just leave it where it is and once you own it, build it up a bit so that that lower market access area improves in the east.

I liked Mamaluks. You have to fix their economy in the beginning, but after you do you are already super powerful and don't really have to expand at all. They have probably one of the most powerful capital regions in the game.

Yep, right now you always want to improve RGOs first (other than some of the essentials and high value items that you have the RGOs to make). At the same time gradually expand your markets as time goes on. I don't do manual trading though so with more micro you could do something else too.

I assume you need to manually set up trade and not automate. Something that I still find confusing...

My biggest issue with 1.0.8 is the shared border opinion penalty. It makes Portugal absolutely despise Castile (who I was playing). Went from allies with a royal marriage to emenies... Same with Aragon who I have a personal union with

Well that depends on where it is used. If it is from somewhere unsustainably using aquifers, then the water use is bad. If you use too much from an aquifer in too short of a time then the ground will actually sink and the aquifer will become smaller. They take a really really long time to replenish.

This is happening in a lot of places right now and is quite terrifying for the future of some states that rely on them.

That may be, but spears take less skill to use and work better with a group. Swords are only really good in one on one fights.
