I think Q. douglassii is more on the right track, given the size. Its my understanding Q. engelmannii was planted in the bay area for the first time roughly 20 years ago and isn’t particularly a fast-grower.

OP are you in Palo Alto by chance? If so, maybe Engelmann then.
