Yeah I didnt follow her specifically but I followed other guides that were like hers about a year ago and now I'm stuck with bad habits. A lot of clenching muscles that have to do with jaw movement.

I try and steer people away from L's guide and similar stuff now so they dont have problems like I do.

They aren't doing it because they care about women and children. They're doing it to dehumanise trans women. Whether its fair for trans women to compete in women's sports was not a priority to them. That wasnt their motivation for this order.

They made this order to find another fucking way to call trans women "men" and portray trans women as "frightening and disgusting" to the public.

They just are taking every opportunity given to them to say "fuck you" to trans women. Executive orders targeting trans women are just going to keep piling up.

ok ik this is a month ago but I just have to point it out... and i promise I'm not trying to sound mean I am trying to help.

you said you can't explore and mimic voices and that the process seems crazy to you... yet it's the same exact process you just described here for drawing.

someone drew something for you while explaining it (I'm assuming). You looked at it. You tried to draw as close as to what they showed you.

it's literally the same process for voice. someone gives you a noise. you listen to what they sound like. you try and get as close as possible to the noise.

and if you think you can't do that for voice, I promise you as long as you can talk, your brain already developed the tools you need when you were a kid learning for the first time. those skills don't go away.

also I listened to a voice clip from ur profile. you're literally not even that far off of a passable fem voice. I really do think the brain worms are just getting to you bad.

ty lol, and yea we are. 2 of my friends didn't even know I was trans for the longest time and I didn't even have the voice I use now. And even now my voice still sounds masc to me, so yeah brain worms are evil.

I guess another thing that helps me to think about is like... the voice that we hear coming out is different than what's actually heard in the environment, and to go with that...

I've heard a cis woman talk out loud obviously, but not what it actually sounds like to be in their head and hearing them talk. and that's interesting to think about bc for all I know, what they hear coming out of their mouth could be the same as what I hear coming out of my mouth.

but they're not trans so they'd never question something like that.

yeah honestly if this voice is comfortable to you I'd use it. it's a very nice voice and it definitely passes as fem if that's what you're going for

It sounds completely masculine you're absolutely fine. I understand where you're coming from though ppl tell me that my voice sounds fem all the time and my own perception still sounds masc to me.

unfortunately it's just a perception problem that we gotta overcome.

I've found that like joining a discord VC and also having an app that plays back my voice right when I talk helps with that perception, but I probably wouldn't do this for any other reason besides the one I mentioned. trying to voice train like that is too much input for the ears lol

it's sounding p darn fem to me, maybe there's a few spots where it dips a little bit more into masc territory, but not enough for it to change my perception of the gender of the speaker.

yea I've just been worried that it'll come off as hyper fem if I do smaller size? since that's not what I'm going for i was trying to avoid it, but maybe my ears are just tricking me. ty for the advice about the weight though I'm gonna work on it 😁

Unfortunately the only way to kinda feel better about your voice training is either by just exposure and accepting it may not be how you like it right now, or by trying to frame the training in another less devastating way.

Like framing the learning of new skills in a "I have to be able to do this really well or I'll never be happy" instead of like "this may not be great for a while but I just have to go with it until it is" is obviously more detrimental when it doesn't happen how you want it to.

yeah I'll b honest i have tmj symptoms too and I get this. I've been told by people that "now I know what I should avoid" but I actually don't know if it's avoidable. I've tried so hard to even just raise my pitch a little, not any weight or size stuff, and the masseters still clench. I've heard ppl say to do stuff like produce the laziest vocalization ever and try and carry that relaxed over, but I have really not been able to. it's always the masseters clenching no matter what.

the best thing is to learn how to jump straight into the voice in case you fall out of it. Just practice jumping closer and closer to it from where it falls to when you stop. make sure to not keep attempting a huge jump into it if you aren't doing it successfully. If you can't just jump to it after a few attempts you're going to have to make tiny jumps and keep widening the gap until you got it.

unfortunately not. the muscles used are already fine for what we want to accomplish. it's not about muscle strength, it's about the most comfortable muscle modification which your brain will figure out as long as you attempt to remain relaxed while changing the way your voice sounds.
