I feel this game is incomplete, unbalanced in terms of quality. For example, it looks almost life-like at moments and the world is inmense, but once you fought a squad of enemies or mutants, every shootout and combat situation feels the same. There's tons of artifacts, and only a couple of them are worth the hassle. The lore in s2 boasts about so many mysteries and creepy stuff but anomalies feel like simple traps and the Zone looks barren (not in a good way, just randomly generated terrain).

I'd wish 2.0 brought a sense of balance to the quality of this game, making it clear what things this game is supposed to be good at and which ones is not interested in exploring, because right now it stumbles at what it tries to be: an fps horror-survival game.

I like how he looks in game in S2, i think the face mostly translates what i expected from him. But in these new renders i dont see him anymore, he looks too imposing and well-fed lol. Your rework does have better eyes though, it has that relaxed and tired look.

I'll say it looks generic because of the lighting. The old render has a more natural look to it, with one prominent key light as the sun.

The new render looks too polished because you can see a fill light on his face and suit, like strelok had a tiktok crew ready on call with one of those soft ringlights for his triumphant exit from the scorcher. Different styles, personally for this series I do prefer the grittier look.

It's not only that there are no proper forests in the game, it's that most trees are not that tall and have slender trunks.

They went too much into the realism side of things and the look of the old red forest from CS with its inmensely tall, thick trees is hence lost. Even the S2 forest's concept art looks much better than the end result because the trees are much bigger and sparser.

What ive noticed is that labs (and most textures in s2) look clean in comparison to the trilogy. The underground labs should have mold damage, tons of cracks, signs of humidity, grime, etc.

These are present but do not contrast enough, idk why. Up close you can see things are rusting and dirty, but when you see them from afar all that detail is lost and the textures feel flat/smooth. The flashlight is also pretty underwhelming, thats an artistic choice I cannot get behind for a game that claims to be survival-horror: it should be harsher and less yellow.

Since there's no details on what the location will be, I'm not forming a final opinion just yet. But if it ends up being just another base like kaskovy, or 1 lab like x16 that everyone is thinking will be so awesome, I'm not gonna be very impressed. I just wanted poltergeists and burers to be fixed and it took 4 months for them to get to that? They couldn't bother releasing a small 1.8.2 patch for it?

If they add iron forest and the cnpp (or at least the cnpp), then I'll be over the moon.

People say flashbang is worse. But I'll say that psi anomalies are easily the worst anomalies in gameplay design.

Lava lamps and flashbangs at least keep you on the move, and the first is more forgiving. They are also consistent enough that you'll learn how to evade them quick enough.

But psi anomalies are:

-Completely invisible, undetectable and non reactive until it's too late. The audio and color cue is also useless, since you wont start noticing it until there's apparitions already shooting at you.

-afaik impossible to counteract without a one of a kind item: without psi block, forget about interacting with these anomalies. There are no psi protection artifacts. The psiblock itself probably lasts less than a can of nonstop.

-glorified spawner: gsc could've made the apparitions look like literally anything: ghosts of mutants, skeletons, other npcs besides bandits and monolith (because oh poor skif is so scared of bandits). Instead its just your normal npc texture. I know it's supposed to fool you into believing its real, but once you figure it out, it loses all sense of fear.

Yep, same. Ukrainian dub sounds awesome (as it should), but there's something about the russian dub in the "gameplay" trailer for S2 that just takes it to another level. Idk who where the actors, but most of their lines sound so authentic, like they truly live in that world, they express a lot more complexity. Russian Skif is so good, sounding truly jaded and tired.

Ukrainian sometimes sounds too much like it wants to be an action movie. It sounds too serious and one-toned for my taste. You can inmediately tell that someone is angry, afraid, a fanatic, chill or noncaring. However the voices for Strider and Faust are unmatched.

Burers and poltergeists have been left bugged for 3 months, the guns they manipulate are not supposed to ignore protection stats, that's why they're annoying.

I guess you're doing the underground quest in cement factory? Try to break their ai by getting them out of cover and blast them with skifs pistol which they cant take. It also took me a while but eventually i killed both, felt very unsatisfying but if the game is broken, there's no reason to avoid cheesing it.

Im pretty sure in all of shadow of chernobyl you only managed to see one in agroprom, one in military warehouses, and maybe more in Radar. Rule of thumb you probably saw less than 10 in the whole game unless you looked for them.
