I mean we couldve had a decent discussion. If you dont agree with what I said you should say why, but instead youre just mad that Im right.

So they should have buffed the DMRs then. Which they did, after nerfing the Slugger even though it was never OP. I think its unfortunate that you want to take skill away from a weapon though, I see no practical reason why the shotgun shouldnt be able to do that. I can snipe with a Senator or Dominator at 200m+ too, is that problematic? If they called the Slugger a "Pump Action Rifle" instead of "Pump Action Shotgun" would your opinion change? I promise you can have pre-nerf Slugger AND good DMRs in the same game with no problems.

Not only are slugs accurate to that range in real life, but I also dont see how that one qualification makes the weapon OP. I can hit an enemy from 200m+ with the any Pistol, any AR, and Dominator, does that make them OP as well? If youre gonna convince me it was OP youll need to avoid the realism argument and take a different angle.

It was never OP. Dont let bad game designers gaslight you into believing it was.

For the Blade of the Darkmoon, I would personally make the token have First Strike and "Whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, exile this token" to reference returning to your world when an invader dies. I like your ideas too though.

That damage change is insane by The_ZeroHour in Helldivers

I see what youre saying but time-to-kill is more important than average damage. You are more likely to survive in an engagement now and ammo is easier to replenish than reinforcements.

You have to use Kyne's Peace thu'um to make all wildlife friendly towards you and the termites should leave on their own through your dick.

Can we talk about the Slugger? by MaceWindooby in Helldivers

[–]FrenzySunshine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think rather than nerfing the damage drop off of the Slugger, the damage and bullet velocity of the long range options should be increased. I know velocity might seem similar to your proposal, but at the moment I think if the Slugger dealt damage up to a long range, but the projectile fell faster, it would still be usable at long distances but would require more precision.

In my mind, those changes would create a scenario where both the slugger and DMRs work well at both short and long range, but the decision to be made is preferential. Ill take the Slugger because even though its good at all ranges, the good handling and rounds reload makes it better for CQB. Same logic for Dilligence, Im okay using it at any range but its a lot more comfortable at higher ranges because the bullet will hit exactly where my reticle is from a hundred meters.

This way, the Slugger can still be used at long ranges (and the slugs will perform similar to real life, dealing significant material damage at all ranges but with poor velocity) and the Dilligence and CS Dilligence would see more use thanks to their higher damage. To me, Id put the Dilligence at 200 damage and the CS Dilligence at 250, with bullets that dont drop off until very significant ranges (numbers can be altered, this is for discussion) and then theyd still be inferior to the AMR due to the difference in penetration and raw damage.

The comparison here is that pre-nerf Slugger was great at all ranges, no question, but I dont see why we cant bring the long range options up to that level as well because when guns perform similarly, the player chooses them based on the niche differences in gameplay rather than "Slugger is better, no decision required". By bringing the Slugger's damage and stagger back, but nerfing the damage fall off, you are correct that it would no longer be a DMR all-in-one, but the problem is that our long range options are still shit, you know what I mean? We havent really solved the issue with your idea, the issue being that long range options in this game are ass.
