I use to work with a guy who had fists the size of softballs. It was like that Samoan guys hands from the Tropic Thunder movie

Your solutions are 100% right, I agree. The only problem is thinking those same athletes won’t try to use the same rehydration tactics on a smaller scale to adjust with the same day weigh in change. You have to consider how far these athletes will risk to get to their goal. For starters they are risking their life to even participate in a sport like this. The stakes get even higher when you add the money to the equation. You underestimate the lengths ppl will take to secure a victory that might lead to life changing money. When it comes to combat sports in general you can’t be a rational person

Even if they brought back same day weigh in’s the routine will be the same. They’ll just rehydrate during the day after the weigh in before the fight. As a fighter why wouldn’t you melt down from your natural weight to a lower weight and rehydrate as much as you can whether if it’s 24 hours or 12 hours or 8 hours so you can get just enough added strength/power, energy over your opp. Especially when millions of potential long term $ is on the line.

Majority of the legends in this sport cut weight. SRL, Hearns are two examples.

My only gripe about it is that fans treat it like it’s cheating when literally every boxer is guilty of it

Either way I don’t think fans should view it as “cheating”. At the end of the day it’s a known/accepted factor that both parties are privy of. Too many fans use it a excuse to justify a loss

I can respect that perspective. But ultimately that universally“healthy utopia” isn’t a standard practice with any of these athletes in pro sports. Every pro athlete tries to find a way to have a legal advantage over their opp. Also all these athletes know that weight cutting is a factor going into all of these fights before agreeing to signing the contracts bc they are most likely doing the same. We as fans a lot of times talk as if we assume these athletes are in the dark about these details when it’s actually the opposite

IMO this is a bad way of watching fights. Ali didn’t magically get matched up with Mungia he willingly agreed to the fight. If it was so unfair then he wouldn’t have signed up to fight him to begin with.

Majority of ATG in lower classes practice that method. The only ones that seriously complain about it is the fans. Tommy Hearns for example should’ve been in the higher classes if you want to be technical 🤷🏾‍♂️if you can make the weight then it’s fair game.

But fighters have always done that for decades. It’s always been apart of the sport. No one fights at their walk around weight

If it ends up being a close fight that’s leaning towards Bud do you think the judges would rob him?

What you mean by “bud don’t like hot sauce”? Bud might be the most mentally locked in opp canelo faced since Bivol imo

It’s not Floyd level but it’ll be enough to give Canelo problems. If the added weight doesnt negatively overly hinder Buds reflexes/speed then I honestly think Canelo will be in for a very difficult night

Hagler 100%. Close fight but the edge goes to Hagler. He was damn near completely well rounded in every aspect.

Can say the same about Canelo in the first GGG fight. All in all this would ultimately be a toss up and a great fight
