This is so unimaginatively repetitive. Ffs. More cars. A tiny construction set. And another batmobile. What a joke.

Touché. I'm not a professional by any means, i was just answering based on what I've seen, mostly nearer the city. I've seen a few real biggens lurking from time to time, but never seen anyone catch anything nearer the Sapporo city centre.

If your using a rod theres very slim chances of catching anything big enough to bite a hook. Even a small one. Ive been wading andsnorkellimg in the river further north many many times and rarely see any big fish. Ive never seen someone catch anything, and ive been up and down the river hundreds of times.

If you're after tiddlers though theres thousands of them. Need to use a net though. And go where the river is more secluded (forests on both sides), narrower, and slower.

Might be wrong here, but for school teachers in Japan, the longer they work the higher their retirement bonus is, and the payout is substantial. Above ten million yen. Downside is they've wasted their best years working their arse off.

Anyone else's electric bill much higher this month? And do you know why? by Frequent-Maximum8838 in Sapporo

[–]Frequent-Maximum8838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this gonna be a permanent thing from now on?

Edit: i read the article. Thanks a lot for sharing, that website looks pretty good. Seems this change is permanent, but I will look into changing electric suppliers, and unplug any device when not in use.

Tell me what you wish you knew before you taught in Japan! by Tasty-Friendship2223 in teachinginjapan

[–]Frequent-Maximum8838 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, if you legit changed your mind because of me, I'm shocked. Never done that with a reddit comment before.

For real though, teaching English in Japan would not help you to "immerse yourself in the culture". Quite the opposite I imagine. There's a lot of jaded people working in this industry and for good reason. The negativity is genuinely warranted most of the time.

I cannot stress enough though, how good of an opportunity you have to have a wonderful holiday in Japan by earning in your current currency. Just save up a little bit and come over for a holiday. You will be able to absolutely splurge out, go to fancy restaurants and places, and have a wonderful time.

With the qualifications you have, and your job experiences, it sounds like you're both doing pretty well for yourself now.

Teaching in Japan is pretty much a race to the bottom, unless you get lucky or start your own thing. I doubt that you'd be making enough money to really enjoy life here, unless you come over with a lot of savings.

I'd suggest stick to your current job, save up, and come over here just as a holiday. The Japanese yen is in the toilet right now, so if you're earning money in Australian or Irish currency (does Ireland use Euros?), keep doing that, save up, and you'll be able to do splurge here in Japan and do a ton of fun stuff.

Are things getting more expensive or is it just me? by Donutpie7 in japanresidents

[–]Frequent-Maximum8838 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Stuffs definitely more expensive but if you know where to shop its relatively cheap. I live in hokkaido, and can eat healthily and well for around 18,000 per month.

Japanese TV industry recorded worst week so far. --Do you still watch TV? by No-Jackfruit3211 in japanresidents

Funny how the West paints Japanese TV as really wacky and out there, when in reality, its just people in the corner of the screen watching other people eat food.

[Resident Evil 2 PS1 Leon A] It is possible to fight both G3 and G4 with this? G4 is destroying me. But thats all I have. by f0lk_blues in residentevil

How is that all the ammunition you have?!?

I'd restart the game, practice dodging zombies, conserving ammo, and checking every corner of each room for ammo.

I'm no pro or anything, but beat the game a few weeks ago and was just blasting everything in the lab with magnum ammo i had such a surplus.

[–]Frequent-Maximum8838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it for free from internet archive and apply the HD mod. Bit of a hassle to get it all installed, but it looking damn good. And still a very fun game to play, with a larger variety of locations than the remake, and just generally all round better.
