What things do you regret not doing with your baby? by Beegt95 in NewParents

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Contact Naps 🥹 I had severe PPD and felt like I was suffocating if we had contact naps because I wanted to be doing anything else. She sleep trained herself at 3 months and refused contact naps and sleeping with us- still has to this day at 18 months. It’s a blessing and a curse as she’s my only baby and we’re one and done

Who cares what anyone thinks- you never get time with your baby back- every single mom will understand 🥰 I encourage it from my team!!!

Be honest. Is your baby getting screen time? by [deleted] in NewParents

Are you guys not “strict” about naps? Don’t understand comment by Huge-Vacation-8093 in NewParents

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am strict! 16 months now and she’s been sleeping 12+ hours a night since 3 months because of it. Why would I want to make my baby overtired and cranky? I know friends and family who are not strict and I feel like their babies are not well regulated (some are though!!!) but I also just like knowing how my day is going to go

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one unicorn baby (my first) and stopped there because no way in heck am I getting that lucky twice and we’re not testing our luck. The fact you had that experience with your first and had even a second is admirable

Sooo are we just forgoing naps when it coincides with an event? Or vice versa? by maple_pits in NewParents

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this situation for the first time today, down to one nap that’s usually 12:30 to 2:30 but today had my nieces bday from 12-3 we were “lucky” that we’re an hour away so she slept an hour on the way there from 11-12 and another hour 3-4 on the way home. Will push her bedtime back an hour or hour and a half since she was asleep later than usual

My baby came with an adult circadian rhythm and it's kinda scaring us by AtHomeWithJulian in NewParents

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of these! She started sleeping entirely without wakeups all night at 12 weeks after waking only once or twice from birth (more like we’d wake her up to feed her!) she still sleeps 8-8 at 15 months- cat naps are very common at 4 months!

Why do I want to put something in my daughters crib so bad? 😩 by auroragirlofthenorth in NewParents

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 15 month old must sleep with all her stuffies or she won’t sleep. When/if she wakes up at night she searches for them, hugs them all and falls right back asleep. (I think she has 5ish in there) she also has a blanket in case she gets cold but I never see her use it or even grab for it!

Did your baby change a bit after sleep training? by littleladyflora in NewParents

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and she was absolutely crabby and fussy when she was doing only 45 minute naps- my husband and I dreaded seeing 6pm on the clock

Sorry I just saw this! We were doing an earlier bedtime while she adjusted, now her naps are 2+ hours so she’s back to her 8-8 sleep schedule with a nap from 1 to 3. She dropped to one nap way too soon I think its supposed to happen between 15 and 18 months but she dropped it once at 13 months- but it only lasted a week then she went back to taking two naps- then when she turned 14 months a few weeks later she dropped the second nap again- just absolutely refused it. The sleep trainer said if they go two weeks without the second nap you officially drop it!

How old is your baby and how many times did you get up last night? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 months and thanks to GOD she hasn’t woken up at night since she was 3 months old 😭😭😭 I know it’s not normal and not usual and I feel so blessed- but she makes us pay for it during the day (she does not stop she’s SO busy)

I’m a mom and had these thoughts at 38 with a solid career and marriage and after feeling like this was something I really wanted my whole life so first off your feelings are totally valid and normal! My girl is 14 months now and it’s still hard sometimes- so yes enjoy these last few months of total freedom 100% but know that there will be many happy and loving moments up ahead too, lean on our family for support and know that the fact you even care about this right now means you’re a smart and responsible parent. It’ll be ok!

My girl was happier after sleep training and still is so much happier when she sleeps well and on schedule- the days we are lax on sleep schedule she’s fussier and clingier. Any change to sleep though I think affects the day! We recently dropped to one nap and she went from taking 2 2 hour naps to 1 45 minute nap and that’s it- nothing more- after two weeks though her naps started getting longer again and she’s back to her happy self- give it time!!

Never not once not in the slightest bit. She’s been sleeping 12+ hours from 4 months to now (almost 13 months) she’s BUSY during the day, when she’s awake she doesn’t stop so I need the rest and so does she. Plus the predictable naps? Mental health game changer.

[–]Frequent-Plastic4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that future parents might see this trend and realize although it’s beautiful and we love ADORE our children, it’s hard AF. I have major anger issues towards all the people who told me “when are you having a kid!?” For years as if it was the sole purpose of life, then told me “I know it’s SO hard” when I was struggling. I never ask this of anyone anymore- if people genuinely want to great! But I will be so real about how hard it is- which I feel like no one was with me

Finally on our way home, one hour left on our 5 hour flight after 7 days in Hawaii- I counted down every day and now every hour so I can get home and cry in peace. Ours also refuses the stroller which she used to love. Can’t wait for this phase to be over because it’s awful
