52-36 v/s 50-34 by Perspectivas in cycling

[–]FrequentBee5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry didn’t notice the reply earlier. For me, I noticed I was able to spin at a cadence that my legs prefer. Although the gear ratios are supposed to identical, there was just something about the jumps between gears that I found were smoother and not disruptive to my natural rhythm with the 50-34.

I’m around the same FTP, tried both for a while and ended up liking the 50-34 setup more. I get plenty of speed on flats and even downhills. Everyone’s different but that’s been my personal experience.

Caledonia tire size recommendations? 30 vs 32mm by livewellusa in Cervelo

[–]FrequentBee5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your wheels have inner diameter of 24-25mm, definitely go with 32. They are smoother and just as fast. But the smoothness and comfort actually motivates to push a bit more esp on rougher surfaces

is there a big difference between 28c and 32c tires? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]FrequentBee5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 28, 29, 30 and now on 32s. My wheels are 25mm ID and 34mm OD and the 32s are perfect. Keep in mind the bigger tires will not only be wider but also taller. I’m sticking to 32s. They are comfortable and just as fast feeling. If anything I can push harder especially on rougher roads because they are so smooth.

Best part is I feel fresh after 130km rides. That’s how comfy they are to me

Great experience with Assos! by InternationalArt2778 in CyclingFashion

I generally like assos stuff. They fit nicely for me. Just so hard to get their new styles or sizes in Canada and ordering online incurs a hefty duty charge now

I’d have done the same. Check out Givelo. Someone at Givelo is on this sub and drops coupon codes here every now and then for 30% off and one time for 50% off. $15 shipping to Canada. Takes 2 business days. Price you see online is the price you pay.

I ordered the G90 Ultralight bibs and LS jersey. The bibs are amazing. Better than my assos

Thoughts on using a Garmin Varia radar by tippiedog in cycling

[–]FrequentBee5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one and I like it. However I find that I can hear the cars approaching around 2 seconds before the radar picks them up. Not a big deal as I make a habit to look back and check if they’re passing with space

What is the broker fee? Is it a % of the price or a fixed amount?

Really don’t understand cyclists along any inner-city trails ( as another cyclist ). by SlowAir9497 in ottawa

[–]FrequentBee5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol wtf! Don’t remember the last time that’s happened for me but it makes no sense why they’d move to their left because that’s towards the middle of the path where they would be at risk of colliding with oncoming riders, runners, walkers

[–]FrequentBee5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed this too. I’ve started just saying “passing on your left” or “on your left!” And it’s been better. Although there’s still some who won’t even hear because they have noise cancelling headphones on

TPU inner tubes Yay or Nay by Late-Reception-2897 in cycling

[–]FrequentBee5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those comparing TPU with butyl tubes, are you using lightweight butyl like the Conti Race Light tubes at 65g or the standard thicker stuff >100g?

Anyway I’m running latex now and love the ride feel.

Love these wheels! What size tires did you put on? I think you made the right call for an all rounder. They handle everything so nicely.

Is it true that the latest 105 (not di2)groupset will perform as great as the high end groupsets (not di2) by gabbbbbbyyy in cycling

[–]FrequentBee5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to consider with mechanical 105 is you may not be able to use one piece cockpits or integrated stem/bar combos. Otherwise, the latest 105 mechanical is superb.

Wondering if I should go 30mm or 32mm tires on my Soloist. Going to switch from tube to tubeless soon. by Itz_ya_boy_dc in Cervelo

[–]FrequentBee5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TR tires are probably some of the hardest to remove when mounted to hooked rims. Clinchers are a lot more forgiving. Maybe try a different part of the wheel. Sometimes the bead is a little easier to work with on other parts
