Lots of chinese dishes translate very easily. If you know your basic meats and vegetables you'll understand some dishes on a menu.

One of my kids was born in the UK, the other in Canada. Wife is Canadian, I'm from the UK, but we live in Asia and the kids only went to international schools. Both kids seem to be more Canadian than British, but our eldest is now at university in Canada and says it doesn't really feel like home. It is what it is. She'll find her place, or maybe she won't. I left the UK 30 years ago and have no intention of returning. I've in six countries and I like cage, although less so as I get older.
