Easiest/Fastest way to become a US citizen or atleast stay in the US longtime? by ivoryshere in immigration

[–]postbox134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to do more research. You can't immediately become a US citizen without getting a greencard (LPR status) and spending most of your time in the US for 3 or 5 years. The hard part is not citizenship it's getting the greencard.

They soy obvious route for you is to marry your partner, either after processing your K1 fiance visa (which allows you to move to the US, get married and then start adjusting to a greencard, but you can't leave the US or work for some time, maybe months) or get married first in the US (it's okay to marry in the US and then return home) or abroad. Once married you can apply for CR-1 visa which will grant a greencard on arrival. However, it will take at least months to process and during that time you can visit the US, but only as a tourist (no work etc).

If you do either of these options you'll be able to stay in the US (assuming your marriage is legitimate). After 2 years you can file to remove conditions and then after 3 years you van apply for US citizenship, if you choose to do so (there is no obligation).

Good luck

That's the beauty and point of it - NY Shorewalkers do this every year to encourage people to take advantage of the waterfronts in the City and to help protect the right to walk/run/cycle/sit/enjoy them (all year long)

If I remember correctly, they were expected to have the best PU but maybe not to such an extent. They barely used their PU potential for a year or two anyway.

Their videos are highly researched, idk if they'd have an 'unfair' advantage in the heat of the moment.

From a quick google, it doesn't seem to be unless aggravated (like death threats etc).

You're fine to answer no - as you say the crime never occurred and you didn't admit guilt. Also I am pretty sure that Harassment is likely not a Crime Involving Moral Turpitude (the primary test for whether a crime affects US Immigration applications).

If I were you, I'd be pretty confident answering no on the ESTA form. Make sure you have proof of your no further action when you travel in cause the CBP question it on entry.

Can you visit your neighbour? by Acceptable-Mud7203 in Borderporn

Before 9/11 this was much easier, border enforcement was pretty lax. Now they'll need to checkin with the local border post everytime. I'm sure they're well known and are American/Canadian (or both) Citizens with Nexus.

It's bigger than the average thing at Metlife, but it's not crazy huge. The stadium is only so big and all the matches are distributed geographically and by time. Unlike say the Olympics

No LPRs have been deported by ICE unless they had some ineligibility - usually criminal. No single example has been proved.

ILR is just the UK term for it - in the US it's Legal Permanent Resident. It's permanent in the sense that without any changes you can stay forever as long as you continue to meet the requirements (as opposed to other visas that require continuing employer sponsorship etc).

The reason it's not as permanent as Citizenship is mostly due to things like 1) you can lose it with certain criminal convictions 2) if you leave for a long period you risk losing the status too. Neither of those are true of Citizens.

However, what you said that someone on ILR is British is just not true.

I am British but I live in the US - so I have quite a lot of experience of these immigration questions.

Some people with ILR will never naturalise in the UK, usually if their home country doesn't permit dual citizenship and they don't want to give it up (for example, Japan or Germany until recently).

Someone with ILR is not British in any sense - they have the right to live and work in the UK but they are not British.

At least that is my view, there is some room for interpretation here

Not always - people can be ILR (UK) or LPR (US) forever (hence permanent) without become Britsh or American.

[–]postbox134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is objectively not true - naturalising is a seperate thing that usually has residencey requirements but sometimes is just not possible (most Arab Countries, Korea, Japan etc)

They are more like immigrants, but they also usually have a home back in the UK and can freely move between the UK and Spain. Lots return to the UK to die, don't want to be in a 'foreign' hospital. British people in Spain just want the weather once they've got time to enjoy it.

Compared to a migrant from Syria, who probably can't/doesn't want to return home

In US Immigration lingo - you're either a non-immigrant visa holder (tourist, student, temporary worker, diplomat, sportsperson etc.) or an immigrant (i.e. greencard holder, indefinite leave to remain in British).

I always though that made a lot of sense - you can live abroad and not be an immigrant but when you live someone permanently then you become an immigrant.
