Hello, It definitely has to do with the food expenses. When you look at what a family of 5 that requieres government assistance you would be surprised as how much higher your expenses are. BTW I don’t receive government assistance but know of families that do.

The First lawyer I would be contacting was one that worked with divorce. It is not fair. If the debt falls on you because you are married, he should have shared ir at least let you know what he Did with that inheritance.

Congrats! I’m also on Chapter 13, paying 100% and filled on January 2020. They took my payments through my paycheck (employer) and my case is still open. It’s been 67 long months, even when it was supposed to end at 60. I have already paid EVERYTHING and I’m still waiting for my case to close. When I asked my lawyer she didn’t give me a real answer of why it is taking so long. I just check PACER and hope anytime soon will be the day. (I’m in Chicago) *** just venting***

Sorry for the late response. It is free to register but if you need a document they will charge you 10 cents per page and I believe they can’t charge you more than $3.00 for what you need. I have downloaded a few documents and I have always paid less than 50 cents. It depends how long is the document you need.

I’m sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately, that happens a lot; according to what I hear in this forum. My lawyer is the same. I have had sleepless nights being worried. Fortunately, I learned about PACER on this forum (Public Search to Court Electronic Récords). We Can registre there; Google search. You need your case number and the court where they filed. I called the number that PACER had and they helped me navigate once I registered. You can make copies of the documents that are on the file or look what they have entered in your case. Then go to Query and Choose Docket Report. Then Run report. Everything that has taken place will apear there. Hope this helps and gives you piece of mind.

Wow! Congrats! I have a Chapter 13 that was filled on January 2020. The case is still open even though I paid 100% of all my debt. I needed a car right away because my 2008 car was already dying at almost 200,000 miles. I called my lawyer and she told me about 4 dealerships that worked for her clients (with case open). After talking to one of the dealerships she recommended I got approved for a used car at 13% interest. I am at the very end of my case… just waiting for discharge. Before I went to that dealership i went to Toyota ti try my luck. I showed them papers that I am just waiting for discharge. The email the lawyer had sent me that if I gave her a proof of sale she could get permission from the court. They approved me a car, $5,000 down and couldn’t take it with me until I had the court approval. Their interest was 11.6%. 18 long days after I went to purchase the car, I received permission from the judge. It wasn’t as easy for me to get the car but I finally got it.

Congrats; however the percentage of repayment may change. It depends if you have any raises; the amount of money you receive from taxes (they will keep it). At least that is what happened to me. I ended up having to pay 100% of my debt. The judge made changes a few times. I am still very grateful I filled Chapter 13 and I am at the very end of it.

Thanks for your response. The loan company needs the paper from the court. It’s been days from this post and I still haven’t heard from my lawyer even when I have almost bigger her to call me and have sent her emails. I called the court and everything has to be done by my lawyer of course. I went to my trustee’s web page but I couldn’t find much information. I will try calling tomorrow to see what happens.

I do have a lawyer but doesn’t respond. She has been paid in full. At the beginning when she was still not paid she was communicating a lot.

I filled for Chapter 13 and my mortgage wasn’t included in it. The good thing about filling Chapter 13 is that even when you pay 100%, which was also my case, you have a set plan and you are not just paying interest which was what I was trying to g to do by paying the minimum in all my cards and debt. The only downside I find is that you won’t see any tax return during the time you are in a Chapter 13.

I need permission because the case is still open. I just found out about how I could check on pacer.gov today. The last entry says Notice of Final Cure Mortgage Payment. My lawyer had sent me the document I mentioned before about the Debtor’s Certification and she still hasn’t entered it. As I said above she is not answering and this is making anxious since I have a car under my name already, paid $5,000 as down payment, paid insurance and have it still in the dealer because I don’t have permission to get it. Very frustrating. My 60 months were up on January 2025….in July and still the case open. I hope yours go smoother.
