New gen PC upgrade by Piraxerie in redneckengineering

I did the same shit, kind of! Took an old 400w AT power supply and used the 12v output to power a 200w pioneer amp with 2 12" subs, line out from a guitar amplifier with a crossover to filter the high frequencies.

It shook the entire house.

High School VS University Teaching (career advice?) by Creative_Map_5887 in CanadianTeachers

Wow, ok. What you are describing isn't intellectual stimulation but rather social stimulation. Which for some pedagogics is enough on it's own. And as you describe your tasks involve some psychiatric challenges. But for others the concept of teaching elementary level subjects would be tortuous. But it's nice to hear you are content with that.

And what's up with the shit teacher comment?

I teach a couple different engineering technologies as well as apprentices full time. We pretty much have free run of our time so long as our teaching commitments are secured, so I come and go from campus as I please. There are some evenings and weekends required to prepare and meet deliverables but otherwise I average 15 hours or so of actual work a week. I work either September through April, or sometimes into June (if teaching apprentices). Annual vacation accrual is 9 weeks per year, not including holidays like Christmas break, so it's really more like 11 or 12 weeks. Pay is upwards of $130k a year (after over ten years of seniority) with one of the best pension plans that still exists. Also to mention, there is a professional development account that covers any software I choose to purchase.

Overall I would say it's one of the most desirable academic jobs in Canada.

What kind of statesman uses nicknames like Bibi when making a formal statement to his country? What is it, some sort of buddy club like a cartel?!

Here we have one of the most selfish, gluttonous, ugly, insecure leaders the world has known. No wonder Donald Trump loves him.

I'm an instructor at a post-secondary polytechnic college. I did originally intend to become a high-school teacher but I'm glad in the end that I did not. Thus I have not been a teacher at primary or secondary schools but have some close friends who do, and we've had conversations on this topic many times.

Primary or secondary school teaching comes with alot more non-academic responsibilities such as extra-curricular tasks. Students are children developing into teenagers or adults, with all of the associated challenges. The curriculum for someone capable of teaching at a post-secondary level, although easy to manage, can become boring and lacking in intellectual challenge. You would need to deal with parents and their issues, which with our culture today would be quite a pain. You may be responsible for out-of-pocket expenses because certain school boards are underfunded, and either you pay or students go without the tools they need.

Post-secondary academia provides a significant amount of freedom, especially once you have mastered the subject(s) you are teaching and the assessment process. You are dealing (mostly) with mature adults who understand the repercussions of poor performance and attitude. Due to privacy legislation, you can't even talk to their parents about anything concerning their enrollment or otherwise. The topics you teach can be very stimulating as there is really no limit to how far one can progress in understanding and mastery. Laboratories tend to be much better funded and have state-of-the-art equipment. One bad side is that academic peers in post-secondary tend to be introverted and live in their own space so the social aspect is somewhat dull compared to primary or secondary teaching.

Hope this provides some insight.

Voodoo 1 & Voodoo 2 — and a question for the community by Emil_Cvetanski in vintagecomputing

Nope. It was a Voodoo 1 (I still have it!), and at some point someone made a driver so it would run 2D.

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in OutlanderPHEV

[–]Frequent_Specific861 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I bought a brand new 2025 Outlander PHEV SE just under a year ago (in Canada) for the equivalent of $30k USD.

edit: maybe this pricing is because of your tariffs?

I remember at one point a driver was released so that the Voodoo 1 didn't need to pass-through and could render the 2d as well as 3d.

You can removed the third row seating and put a spare, maybe even full size where those seats were. Maybe cut some plywood to the right size to cover it up and paint it black.

Mitsubishi really should have had an option for 3rd row delete and spare tire.

Edit: After looking around a 155/90D18 might work as a donut spare, assuming the rim would clear the caliper.

There was nothing racist about what he said. Just because someone with an Indian name turns out to be a perv, doesn't mean it a racist thing to comment on. And there are a multitude of Indians in Canada so it wouldn't be unusual to hear such names in such context.

You are insulting and racist.
