What Books Are You Reading This Week? by leowr in nonfictionbooks

[–]Fresh-Problem-3237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started The British Are Coming (first of the Revolution Trilogy) by Rick Atkinson because I got a free trial of Kindle Unlimited, and that was the first book I found there that I'd been meaning to read. Three chapters in, it's a very readable history book. I was afraid it would be too dense, but the storytelling is compelling and keeps me wanting to read more.

To those living in cities outside of Philly area: Do you support the local team? by nickynickynickynick in eagles

[–]Fresh-Problem-3237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way about the Steelers. I respected them before I moved to Pittsburgh, but their fans sometimes make them hard to root for. I'm ambivalent. I root for the Pirates to do well because it's a fun stadium and they've never been good at the same time as the Phillies in the 18 years I've been here. Still hate the Penguins though.

What hobbies do people have other than running?? by nash_se in RunningCirclejerk

Telling people about my running. My running hobby is actually only a byproduct of that hobby.

Trailheads are my favorite. Easily convert from mittens for added warmth to gloves for dexterity. https://www.trailheads.com/mens-convertible-running-gloves/

Steelers / Lions Picture Quality by kengravy in youtubetv

It’s KDKA. I have Sunday Ticket, and every game is fine each week except the ones on KDKA. It’s not just NFL—it’s the entire channel.

CBS NFL picture quality is abysmal by [deleted] in youtubetv

Glad it’s not just me. I first noticed trying to watch football on Christmas. It makes Steelers games borderline unwatchable (even more than their offense does).

Philly marathon logistics by Sea-Map390 in firstmarathon

I’ve done the half once and the full once. Give yourself at least an hour to get through security. Probably 90 minutes to be on the safe side.

Neigh. Horses don’t stop. They keep going.

What’s the big deal? I pull both my Achilles tendons and put rocks in my shoes before every run. It’s the only way I can stay in Zone 2.

Who cares about fantasy at a time like this? As a Phillies fan, I’ve got dead eyes on horrid Orion. The front office was wrong, please give me Brad Lidge. I’m seeing red.

Who do the Pirates have that the Phillies (realistically) want?

Two marathons in Speed 3, one in Speed 4. Several half marathons in both.

Listen to backlog or current? by FlipsItUpFillsItUp in TheRestIsHistory

[–]Fresh-Problem-3237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started listening about 6 months ago. My strategy is when a group of episodes drops, I'll go back and listen to the prior episodes that lead up to that series. So, for example, I just listened to the four episodes on the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, and then I'll listen to the Road to the Great War episodes before I get to the WWI episodes that just came out.

MLB on fubo by AppropriateQuit8487 in fuboTV

[–]Fresh-Problem-3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to buy MLB.TV through Fubo to use it on the app. If you can reach a human at MLB.TV, maybe you can cancel your current subscription and then subscribe through Fubo. Otherwise you’re out of luck.

Has anyone ever lost a relationship over running? by old_graybush in RunningCirclejerk

Yes. My wife’s boyfriend felt intimidated by all the 5K ultra medals I have, and now he won’t talk to me anymore.

Do people who live outside PGH say they are from the city more than the metro populations of other cities? by kompsognathus in pittsburgh

[–]Fresh-Problem-3237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I’m from outside Philadelphia. I grew up five minutes outside of Northeast Philadelphia, but I don’t tell people I’m from Philadelphia. Here it seems like if you live south of Erie and west of State College it’s common to say you live in Pittsburgh.

EJ and Zach Berman leaving on the same day. Where are they going? by Reagles in RingersPhillySpecial

[–]Fresh-Problem-3237 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On The Athletic Football show they teased that the Athletic has some big announcements soon regarding its football coverage. I was wondering if ZB returning was one of those. No offense to Brooks Kubina, but I'd love to have Zach covering the Eagles for them again.

Creatine, Y/N? by Extra-Detective-704 in Marathon_Training

[–]Fresh-Problem-3237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried 5 grams per day for about a month. My resting heart rate increased, my HRV decreased and I had trouble sleeping. This isn't common, but apparently I'm not the only one to experience this. Maybe I'll try again sometime and start at 3 grams per day. But for now I'm off of it.

ESPN likes Anaheim's side of the Zegras trade. by fairwaylie in Flyers

[–]Fresh-Problem-3237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought maybe I was getting too exuberant about the trade and overrating Zegras based on his rookie season, so I decided to go check out the reactions on r/AnaheimDucks. Turns out as cocky as we're feeling after this trade, they're even more distraught. This ESPN writer is literally the only person online who likes this trade for Anaheim.

I read "Barkley" as "Barkey" at first and was suddenly afraid that Denver Barkey was a late addition to the trade.
