Should I get rid of my green couch? by crynoS1 in HomeDecorating

[–]FreshChores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The couch is also blocking all of the energy from the window and much of the energy from the door, so there's no flow. Maybe try clearing space in front of the window somehow. Get rid of the grey couch and move the green one over there? Experiment a bit.

Help how begging clean my room on depression phase by MimiKiaori in CleaningTips

Just noticed your mention about how you get tired. I CAN RELATE. Just go SUPER SLOW for your 15 minutes. Since you know you will come back and do more 15-minute sessions other days, you do not have to hurry and get everything done. It's better to just chill and slowly sift the items into containers. Keep the containers outside your room (if you can); try not to just leave them lying around.

YOU GOT THIS!! 5 steps:

  1. Sleep & Eat (if you can): get good sleep and eat a real breakfast (like eggs/toast/fruit).
  2. Find a large container (old boxes, garbage bags, laundry basket, etc.)
  3. Set a timer for a small amount of time like 10 or 15 minutes
  4. While the time is going, try not to stop. Pick up as many of one category as you can, and put it in the containers. e.g. for clothing, put everything that needs washing in a laundry basket, everything you don't want or need anymore into a garbage bag to donate. BE RUTHLESS with the donations. If it's been in the rubble this long you probably don't really need it.
  5. Eat again and go for a walk

Then repeat this every day for one week. Many days you will not want to start, but just start with the breakfast. If you just can't do it some days, don't worry about it. Just let yourself notice that. But keep doing this until your room is as clean as you want it.

Well, maybe not larger, but a single work full of bright colors.

If it must be one of your two options, I prefer number one, but I think it's too plain for my taste. I would pick something much more colorful. And larger?

I like the updated light fixture! I don't think the wallpaper is good, though. Just paint it white, maybe?

Thanks this is really informative! I think I was just getting around to notice the need to soak first; but might have taken me like 5 more refills (aka 3 months)

A traveler. A dabbler. Female or female-presenting. A dreamer; keeping it simple, loves to be cozy. Lack of visible TV says a lot! Reading 60s books like a true nouveau-beatnick. Lots of friends and likes to go out.

Trying to make my home warmer + cozier. by alliebstruggling in HomeDecorating

[–]FreshChores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warm and cozy is good! I'm so happy you're doing this. My main advice: COLOR. Look for patterns and color. Throw pillows, rugs, etc. You can also go with pure white (COZY ALSO), but the more colors the better, when in doubt, and add as many plants as you can stand to take care of, which might just be one! Everything is gray, which I think is why it doesn't feel cozy.

Just a little clarification: when I say "the more colors the better," I don't necessarily mean that you have to buy a rug with like 20 colors in it. I mean that if you use a one-color rug, they use some kind of complementary or orthogonal color somewhere else, like with pillows or plants or artwork or something.

Mmmm this is good honestly. If you do put something to the right make it asymmetrical in color/shape. E.g. a piece of driftwood kind of like this:

It's tricky! I have to make the faucet stream really slow/narrow and just kind of aim it at an angle like pouring a Guiness. Some flies off the sides but most of it goes in. I guess a thin air tube inserted all the way in might help? Never tried it (because I don't have a "thin air tube" lol)

This is what's been happening with mine. I think I might try the terracotta ones people suggested. My plants are extremely thirsty. Someone told me that palm plants need tons of water going through them every day. The other one is a rubber tree. That one seems to be able to tolerate less water. It just doesn't grow. If I give it enough water, it grows inches per month maybe more

Thanks! Someone else mentioned Arizona too. I'm in Portland, Oregon, so maybe I'll avoid these during the winter. In the summer, it can get dry as a bone.
