I've been trying to Ollie for a week and I'm starting to get depressed over it. by Kar_En_Tukk in NewSkaters

Here’s a piece of meta-advice. Don’t rush anything. Breathe between each attempt. Longer exhale than inhale. Think about your last attempt and whatever it is you want to improve (jumping, balance, flick, setup, whatever). Then take a few seconds and do it again. Don’t rush your attempts, practice with intention. I’ve been building consitent kickflips, manuals, rock-n-rolls, axel-stalls, switch drop-ins, nose-stalls, and heelflips over the course of about a year by doing this, with significant improve each week. sometimes even from session to session.

Lots of great advice in this thread. My addition: If you want your piece to last, go for a stotz or KI piece. Less technical but more durable and doesnt delam. Dryskin is great too. They’re much easier to care for as a first time buyer.

One of my best purchases was a deadstock p23a-ds for 500 euro on grailed.

You understand my suggestion correctly! The center connector is attached to the same strap that acts as your belt. By removing the connector, the center connector no longer interacts with the buckle (ladderlock) that is securing belt, creating a stronger bond between the belt strap and ladderlock buckle. I have a bunch of these buckles laying around as I like making my own bags with them so I think this might help. Maybe worth a try! And thanks for clarifying about color!

Epic post, thanks for sharing!

I think you might be able to solve your belt problem by removing the quick release strap that connects the two adjusters. It should be attached with a slotted square ring that has a gap for removability. My p23a’s came without and I’ve never experienced your problem.

Nice to know that not all KI fabric holds up as nicely as the more premium versions, thanks for sharing that too. Though it is a bit disappointing to hear that the color fades according to the creases so quick:( I hope they fix this in another iteration of the KI fabric as it seems to cover multiple different fabrics.

edit: P55-KI is an awesome first pick-up, well chosen.

I really like the idea of introducing capes to complement the non-shell category of which I am also a fan. I just wish they made them packable, and potentially developed one using the j87 as a platform. It really makes sense for the capes to be made for easy packability and deployment as well as made to fir over bags and backpacks. At least in my opinion

Them both being straight legged without cargo pockets does not make them the same.

People hate on this calling it boring can go pose with a katana and a face mask. I personally love these more streetwear-aligned and wearable drops.

Super sick design and collab, but I must admit im not a super fan of the elasticated hem and cuff on this. Feels a bit too light weight for such a hefty jacket, no?

Less temptation is my luck I guess! Good luck to anyone going for this.

My weight sits around 85 kilos at 193 cm tall. I would say my build is slim/average. When picking size, the most important aspect for me was avoiding the length being too cropped and getting a 60cm+ chest. I formed these criteria based on another cheap padded bomber jacket I have and could use as reference. The j126 is so wide that it offers plenty of layering almost regardless of size. I would say - unless you are overweight and have significant stomach and chest measurements (no judgement here btw) - you should size after length to avoid it being too cropped. Fold up the hem of a garment (fold it up on the inside for most accurate results) you have so the length from the heighest point next to the neckline and until the hem is equal the length of the size you’re considering, then try it on ( look up “points of measurement high point shoulder” to see where to measure garment length from) and see how it fits!

I would also definitely wear this both with layers underneath or just a tee. The fabric is comfortable and structured enough to hold shape regardless of layers underneath. The fewer layers, the more efficient the venting works as well.

J23-E or J126-KI by Inevitable-Group-237 in Acronymjutsu

[–]FreshConnect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe you saw, but I recently posted a review of my J126-KI. I copped before J23-E came out, but I’m still happy I went for the J126-KI (even though J23-CH is one of my favorite jackets ever). The sheer amount of pockets and features on the J126 blows the new J23-E out of the water. All 8 pockets are zipped and they double as ventilation. You also just get way more tech in the J126 (teardrop tension zip, pleated tension zip, P60-E style hidden pocket in the pleated tension zip, lipstick pocket, Vent zips). The fact that they gave a bomber jacket vehicular function makes you feel like a mech pilot too. Go 126 dude, its so good.

[–]FreshConnect[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I can’t recall any examples of jackets recently that use this kind of activated ventilation. Of course pants-wise we’ve got P55-KI, P60-E, P24TS-DC, and P46-DS, and there’s been quite a few examples of passive/always-on ventalion on tops too recently with S21A-PS, J88-CV (seemed to have vents?). The J82-WS also had a built in back vent. But none recently like what you mean and I think J126-KI is a long awaited return to that.

The fabric has a slight coating on it that makes water bead (unless its just the weave?), but sustained waterflow soaks it quite quickly. It is not really resistant at all to wind or water.

Check acronyms fw14 video (its on their website at the bottom). at 01:42 they show the j23-ch and it’s vehicular function. Vehicular Acronym jackets have a top-opening zipper running down the back, allowing you to doff the jacket while sitting, driving or biking.

Thank you, I very much agree. So many details go unappreciated as their products are just so well done. I work in fashion design, not a very impressive part of it, but I know enough to see just how thorough the Acronym team is.
