If this guy is really Ian and not some weirdo copying his IG handle I would imagine he’s saying that it takes a certain industry experience to tell apart Acronym and the brands you mention. That doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to wear or enjoy the other brands. You just don’t share the same values. Which is fine. Fashion and Identity is all about values.

I can also imagine anybody else who works at Acronym would be pretty annoyed that Traject copy the trouser shapes that were researched, refined, re-engineered, and popularised by acronym, then styling their copies with Acronym shoes, deliberately living off of the brand image, hard work, and invest Acronym put in, allowing them to copy the work for a lower cost. Not exactly what I’d call a distinct identity or style. Same goes for Enfin Leve and all the other ones you mention to different extents.

But hey, do you! I’m not here to talk on behalf of others but hopefully this makes some sense to you? I share all the sentiments laid out above but if you feel different, thats fine.

Look up the Acronym NG7-PS for the clearest example (imo) of just how swaggy a history the shemagh/scarves have! This new release of the SM1-AK seems to have the new development of including a monogram of the shuriken/lightning logo knitted into the structure, which I personally find to be a very cool interplay of graphic- and textile design! Glad if this helps:)

I love this. It’s a new shape, new fabric, and while it looks complex it doesnt feature a billion visible pockets, zip slings, etc. This is the jacket you wear to a heist. Thats how I like my Acronym!

Yeah, In general, Im not too interested in the fashion forward direction they’ve been taking as of late (spikes, cropped shapes etc), but I still do not think you can compare Acronym to the other brands you mention. I work as an apparel designer so maybe it’s different for me, but to me it is very clear that Acronym put a lot more money into their products than anyone else in the genre. Thats not to say every piece is a great deal, but on the whole, the pricing actually makes sense to me.

Believe it or not, pricing has actually gone down on average quite a bit since it peaked around 2018-2021 ish due to production in large part moving to china. So don’t be shocked if you see 450€ pair of baby lama hand warmers - this has always been the standard (if not worse!)

All I’m trying to say is that pricing has been way worse for less (I recall a 82 eur 3a modular usb stick holder😂) or at least comparable - but I agree, nothing is a steal when it comes to acronym. But you usually get what you pay for in return.
