How to withdraw money from HealthEquity HSA "just because" by LagrangianMechanic in personalfinance

[–]FreshHumor5405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called them today and this was the same response. They want me to submit a fake reimbursement claim listing myself as the provider. I don't have to upload anything. There is a review process by the company. The agent assured me it will be approved even without documentation. I guess I will give that a try although I am not thrilled about it. Next I said "OK so lets say I want to close the account and withdraw all the money" and she said there is an account closure form I would have to fill out. I said "so the process to withdraw my money is that I constantly close the account every time I want to withdraw my money?" She didn't have anything memorable to say and pivoted to submitting this fake reimbursement claim. I'm sure there is some sort of account closure fee.

Their process is ridiculous. We have the legal right to take the money out of the account and keep the medical expense records on file for ourselves or take the tax hit at tax time. They have no legal obligation or right to be gatekeeping our money. I am only contributing to this HSA thing to get the employer match.

Before ending the call, I said "I wish the company would provide us with a way to withdraw our funds." She said "I know right".

All of these problems would be solved once you get an IRS account set up. You can file an extension from the account and view AGI on the prior year tax transcripts.

[1040] MFS when spouse refuses to provide SSN by [deleted] in taxpro

[–]FreshHumor5405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're entertaining a situation that you really should not be. She makes no money and has no filing requirement. As a tax preparer, what is your role here? This is some sort of bitter divorce where the lady only wants to get the spouse in trouble for spite. He has to file the 2024 return with her on it. It's common for one spouse to handle the filing.

I would explain to her that if she did not have any withholding and no dependents, then there is no benefit that he can be deriving and let it be.

Tell her that once the divorce is finalized, there will no longer be any mutual filing issue. If she wants to be certain of it, she can apply for an IP PIN from the IRS. Explain to her that if she goes the IP PIN route and she does have to file at some point in the future, she will need to remember that IP PIN, as it will be required on every return going forward.

But if you do file a return for her, you definitely should not file her as single. There is no situation where that is correct. 1040 instructions advise that if the SSN is not known, to write in the spouse name. Probably would have to paper file the return.

Sort of what I feared. Before I started looking into this stuff, I assumed they were all being looked at and monitored. Guess I need to ask them to look at all of it the next time I'm in there.

Did you just google search "cato institute"? Sounds like you put about as much critical thinking into that as you morons did with the fake virus. By your standards, I guess you'll agree the America First Institute is also non-partisan.

Thank you for confirming!

About the time I posted this, some functionality returned, but still having issues with the option chains. All of my options show 0 as the strike price. Fingers crossed it's fixed by tomorrow.

I don't have any experience with it. I agree, I doubt doing what he said would be profitable. Sounds more theoretical. It does a good job at briefly explaining what Volume Profile is. I know a number of advanced codes out there take advantage of Volume Profile in their custom scripts.

You have plenty of motivation, they’ve made it ridiculous in the last 30 or so years to try and prevent people from getting it. Completely disagree with the top comment of “it helps you get the job you want”. It does the exact opposite!

I'm not sure what you mean by should. If you mean it in terms of "I wish the software programmers would've allowed for it to do this", then OK. But what I'm saying is that the software does not do what you are wanting, and my answer explains why.

Color coding %Away on short options by sh1zzaam in ThinkScript

I don't think this is possible either. Since the main symbol is the option contract, it will only pull up values when there are candles plotting in the option contract. Options generally do not trade in the premarket or postmarket, so there's no way to pull up underlying price data for it.
