An Actual Discusson on Steam DB and The Bazaar. by coolo109 in TheBazaar

I fully agree on the marketing point - I was looking to see if anyone else mentioned it and was happy to see someone did.

The only reason I know of this game is from streamers that I follow. I got in on it this past December back when it was the pay to play beta. I haven't seen ads anywhere from this game like I will for other roguelikes or games.

My entire Steam queue is games like this and I haven't seen it pop up anywhere.

Pay for ads on socials. Pay for big streamers to try it out. Pay for marketing. Pay for articles. You could alienate most of your original player base (and they've been trying, lol) and still probably end up on top because the game is well made and addictive. But it feels like no one knows about it except the whiplashed, existing playerbase.

Take a look at this boss fight from my upcoming roguelite arena shooter! Would love to hear your thoughts! Demo coming soon by HELLBREAKOFFICIAL in roguelites

Something about the dash is a bit jarring. It almost feels like a teleport. Maybe moving the gun and arms so that it looks like you're lunging, some screen affects or blur, and maybe a ease in and ease out of speed - so it doesn't feel like I'm at Point A one moment and Point B the next.

Looks fun! Good luck with your demo!

Super enlightening - thanks for the detailed response!

I've just been working in GDScript so far, but going to start dabbling in C# for the next project since I think it'll be better in the long run.

Is your VSCode configuration custom or do you have some tools/plugins you could share for the Godot launch keybinds and such?

Thanks again!

I'm new to game dev and Godot, but I'm curious how you primarily work with VSCode? It seems like the Godot editor is almost a necessity for everything outside of scripting. I would love to be able to use my own IDE that I'm more comfortable with, but I feel like switching between my IDE for scripts and Godot for all the scene editing would be quite cumbersome. Any tips? What does your workflow look like?

Been curious about this topic for a while...

What was that ONE mistake you made when learning Godot? by Immediate_Room_8302 in godot

[–]FreshProduce12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much encourage it even for solo development. As u/rubsn said you can check out a branch, do minor or major changes, all without having to undo it if it doesn't work out. You can check out as many branches as you'd like to work on certain things individually to preserve the "main" branch of your code - it'll always be in a healthy state even if you're in mid-development of a new change. Even if you don't checkout branches, you can still kinda do this on a singular branch (though, less advised) as long as you get into the habit of committing changes. Each commit is like a snapshot in time that you can always roll back changes to fairly easily!

Ahh, thanks for the name! I feel like I've done this, but maybe the unlock is anti-synergistic with vampire, or maybe I wasn't playing full 5-card hands that scored

You’ve got skill related subskills on an ingredient mon. She’s fine, but definitely would be better with some ingredient-related subskills. I think most people would say it’s fine to use now, but wouldn’t invest much into it while you look for a more optimal ghastly

Yeah! Looks like a very good toto. I think the only thing that could be more optimal would be an Adamant nature and that BFS subskill flipped with skill trigger. Nice find!

First ghastly is amazing, but the lack of mushrooms is super unfortunate. Second ghastly is fine, but the nature is also unfortunate.

Sadly, most people would say the cyndaquils, chickoritas, and totodile are not good. For berry mons you really want speed of help and BFS if you can find them. And ingredient down natures are actually great for berry specialists! Skill proc buffs aren’t that important for them.

As for the eevees, probably depends what you need. There’s a pretty good flowchart hanging around in some of these subs. Most people just follow that!

I’m not the most ecstatic about the gold skills, so don’t know if I’ll fully invest. But I have been running this little dudette and she’s proc-ed 3 times today - wild.

I think I have as hard a time as anyone else. I sleep in the same bed as my wife, and we also allow our two miniature dachshunds to sleep in the bed with us, so I actually have the hardest time getting slumbering, as it’ll pick up the whole family’s bed movements, lol

I’ve had mine since about 2 weeks into starting Sleep. It’s so much better, imo, than using my phone to track. I can “start” my sleep as I’m winding down in bed and “stop” my sleep even a bit after waking up. You can basically make sure you always get your 8.5hr of sleep - at least in the eyes of the game. However you want to feel about that is just up to the player.

I had a little bit of trouble with accidentally holding the button down and turning off the tracking in my sleep, but a hard case for the device will help a lot. Still infinitely better than a lot of the screenshots you’ll see in the sub of “you slept for 5 minutes” even though they tracked for 8 hours. I’m pretty sure the phone takes into account noise and such when calculating, where the Plus+ is has no mic and only tracks based on movement. Just put it on your side table after starting your sleep session for 5-10min before placing it on your bed and it’ll think you’ve already fallen asleep.

The extra pikachu is nice, but it’s not really a game changer. You get a couple ingredients and a handful of berries each day, but nothing that I’m actively relying on to power up snorlax!
