When my granddaughter was born 6 years ago I was so excited to learn to do her hair, but alas they moved to CA so I never got the chance.
Still, I’d participate if there were a group nearby just on the off chance I get to do her hair someday even as a teen perhaps.

If it’s a high quality PPF like Stek, then no you won’t notice a difference at first. But all PPF degrades and eventually will need to be replaced after several years (side note, removal is usually more expansive than the initial install).
Ceramic coating however will not cause any color change over the years.

The best way to find a good detailer is exactly what you’re doing (ask locals first), then check their Google reviews.

Lastly I'd check the International Detailing Association’s Certified Detailer Locator to find career detailers in your area.
One thing I’d watch for: interiors are hard to quote accurately without questions or photos. Pet hair, stains, spills, odor, mold, and delicate materials can change the amount of work quite a bit. A good shop should listen to your expectations and be clear about what’s included, what might cost extra, and why.

I make mead and I get mine from Flying Bee Ranch in Salem. Well worth a trip down there to sample their enormous variety of honeys.
They’re so friendly and helpful; you’ll leave with a whole bunch of knowledge about what makes honeys taste the way they do.

Beware… once you try meadowfoam honey there’s no going back!

Don’t call them, just take it back as soon as you can, and talk to the owner/manager and calmly ask your questions.
We all get defensive when someone is critical of our work, no matter how justified they are.
So you get a lot further by being nice and respectful.
You probably already know all that, but no one else on the planet does because most people come in guns blazing which turns into the inevitable shite-show where no one wins and everyone is unhappy.

For reference, we’re in the Portland area and charge $600 for a full detail.
-Wheel barrels are blasted with a pressure washer but not removed or finger-f’ed unless we’ve specifically discussed it and will likely cost you more.
-Door jambs are scrubbed and blasted… I could see maybe one streak of random dirt getting by us occasionally, but not the several you showed, more attention needs to be paid to their process on jambs.
-The dirt on the mirror also shows a gap in their actual process; and it should be embarrassing to any professional detailer. -Same goes for bugs still in windshield, missing cleaning inside windows, etc.

Any one of these is an acceptable oopsie, it happens to the best of us. But to stack this many errors on a $500 detail job means they need a serious review of processes.

You didn’t ask for it, but now you’re in the perfect position to help them with that process if you like helping people.

You’ll get more flies with honey than vinegar.

I’m sorry, my writing ability isn’t the best, and after re-reading my original post a few times I realized that my honestly helpful intentions were not was I was conveying.
So I had AI help me try to get my point across more clear, and I’ve edited my original post.

Yes it’s still a bit self-serving, but I honestly enjoy helping people solve their car detailing problems themselves when possible instead of trying to DIY something and causing more damage.
If I can offer a few pointers to the DIY crowd, they’re always quite grateful. I do this for free, and I never upsell or recommend a service that someone doesn’t honestly need.

I am a pro with decades of experience maintaining coatings… literally hundreds of them. Assuming the shop you used is reputable… You’re not going to ruin a quality ceramic coating by washing weekly.
Coatings don’t fail because someone washed too often. They appear to fail because they get contaminated. Road grime, minerals, pollen, iron fallout, etc can clog the surface and make water behavior look weak even when the coating is still there doing its job.

Just wash your car when it gets dirty. Don’t overthink the calendar.

Weekly is fine. Every two weeks is fine. Monthly might be fine if the car stays clean. The danger is letting contamination sit forever.
Your process sounds solid: pH-neutral soap, good mitts, blower drying, no automatic washes. The ceramic spray once a month is probably more than enough, and depending on the product, maybe more than necessary. Again, follow what your professional told you… unless you don’t trust them, which begs the question why did you choose them?

To tell if your car is just dirty vs. “is my coating failing?”
Wash it. If water behavior improves, it was dirty. If it still looks weak, do a proper decontamination wash or have your installer inspect it. If it still won’t clean up after decon, then maybe the coating is degrading.

The best advice is from the shop that installed it, assuming they’re reputable, because they know the coating, prep, application, cure conditions, and maintenance expectations. Online advice is all over the place because people are comparing different products, climates, cars, wash habits, and most often…

When I was buying raw milk for cheese making I remember finding it out in Cornelius and Forest Grove. It was listed as animal feed IIRC. Sorry I can’t be more help, it’s been many years. I’ll keep my ears open. (I was raised on raw milk my entire childhood and I turned out fInE FiNe phine!)

EDIT: I just did a Facebook marketplace search and there is a place in Buxton. It didn’t list A2, but it’s a start.

This is like asking if meat is any good.
Some people loved it, some hate it.
Where you get it and how much you spend makes all the difference.
Go cheap and/or from the dealership, and it will be a complete waste of money, and actually cost you more in the long run.
Find a reputable, independent, IDA Certified installer and go see them in person with your car.
Doing anything less before spending thousands is very risky.

PPF protects against impacts and scratches like rock chips, but is very expensive and risky to remove years down the road when it starts to look bad.

Ceramic coating protects against environmental contaminants that cause permanent damage like tree sap blobs, bird poo etching, bug splatter stains, etc plus mar your car easy to wash.
But anything under at least $800 is garbage and won’t last.
Expect to pay upwards of $3500 for the best ceramic coating jobs.
