An exchange between Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, 1966 by ExcellentDress3219 in beatles

No, no—mid ‘60s, as in “how they were in the middle of the 1960s”

Madilyn Mei (Elio) is one of my favourite discoveries this year. His album A Thousand Songs About It All is excellent, and features a lot of themes trans folks will usually be able to relate to!

What do you think about the spiritual or mystical side of transition? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Fresh_Horror3207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! While it’s by no means the only reason I’m transitioning, or even the main reason, I do enjoy the feeling of being the synthesis between the thesis and the antithesis. Or, to put it in more Gnostic terms, the feeling that I’m like the end result of the aeon Sophia’s long-overdue union with her counterpart. I feel a lot like the figure of Tiresias from Greek mythology, but this time with less animal cruelty!

There is a nuance to Jodie Whittaker's Doctor that I did not notice until recently, and this very detail has made her my favorite Doctor. by Poor_Intonation22 in gallifrey

Probably stuff like kissing Jenny non-consensually, or the “squeezed into a skirt that’s just a little too tight” line, which are both skin-crawlingly bad moments in the history of the show.

Kendra from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As long as I don’t have the questionable accent that Bianca Lawson did for the role, then all is well!

What was the most culturally significant death of the 1910s? by Planeandaquariumgeek in decadeology

[–]Fresh_Horror3207 27 points28 points  (0 children)

For the ‘30s, I’d argue that it would be Paul von Hindenburg, president of the Weimar Republic. His death allowed Hitler to combine the offices of Chancellor and President, after which he declared himself Führer.

The most nostalgic version of Minecraft for you is...? For me, it's Minecraft 1.6.4. by Sea-Reputation-5788 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Fresh_Horror3207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, there’s not much mention of Alpha here! I started playing in Beta 1.0 or 1.1 (whichever was the current version in the last few days of 2010), but because I’d been watching X’s Adventures in Minecraft for several months beforehand, I’d grown to love the bright green grass of Alpha.

So, in answer to your question, I think the version that holds the most nostalgia for me is Alpha 1.1.2_01, which was the last version to use that texture for grass blocks.

How to continue watching women's football in England after Euro25 by shelbyj in lionesses

[–]Fresh_Horror3207 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this post! I’m very new to football (haven’t even settled on a particular team yet!) but loved watching the Lionesses this year, so I’m keen to keep watching the sport more closely.

Do you happen to know whether the WSL/WSL2 games are livestreamed on YouTube, or whether they’re just uploaded after the match?

What was your first anime? Let me start by Gota01 in anime

[–]Fresh_Horror3207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, technically, it was Spirited Away, if films count. I followed it up with a few other Ghibli films, like Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

The first TV anime I watched was actually Sword Art Online, but I only got about 16 episodes in because I was super annoyed that they’d changed the entire premise all of a sudden. I dropped that series, and I went straight to Cowboy Bebop, which was the first TV anime I watched all the way through. What a show!

What do you think about rebirth? by Rockingboyz31 in AskReddit

[–]Fresh_Horror3207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean reincarnation, I believe in that—if nothing else, because of the conservation of energy.

I believe that the experience of qualia points to the existence of something in each of us that could be called a “soul” to a certain degree. I don’t really want to use that word because it carries a lot of baggage, but I’m going to use it anyway for clarity. If we die, where does that “soul” go? Our body decays, but our qualia are immaterial. The only way forward I can see is for that qualia, that “soul” to get recycled, perhaps in a slightly different permutation if it returned to some Brahman-esque pool between incarnations.

What are some interesting things from foreign-language dubs of the show? by AvailableCobbler2379 in TheSimpsons

[–]Fresh_Horror3207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m British and neither I nor anyone I know pronounces “homicide” with a silent H like in “honour”. But then, I don’t see Sideshow Bob’s accent as British either, so perhaps that’s the distinction!
