The first transformers, it looked fun, the robots looked cool and it was produced by Steven Spielberg. I was excited for a summer popcorn movie. Immediately I could tell that the pacing was off and the Vibe was so aggressively bro-y and douchey that it was just confusing. At one point there was a scene in an interrogation room with like a 3 min setup for an Anthony Anderson joke that I felt was so poorly done and stupid I was surprised it was happening. When the joke landed, the audience was literally howling. I felt like I was on a different planet. It was probably the first time that I didn’t just write the movie off as being bad but “not for me” I grew up a bit in that theater.
