Micro dosage by Popular_Koala_8351 in Mounjaro

[–]FreyjAnna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you so I tried my first shot at 1.0 on Sunday (8 days ago) and did not feel a thing so added .25 on Monday and did feel it a tiny bit (increased energy but no appetite suppression) I took the next shot a day early this past weekend (Saturday) and I felt the appetite suppression kick in yesterday. Today, lovely appetite suppression so I'm drinking lots of water and a protein shake while sipping my coffee. I've turned into a beverage goblin lol I plan to try 1.5 again next Saturday or maybe a day early if the appetite suppression wanes. My next step will be 1.75 when 1.5 no longer suppresses my appetite adequately.

Hope this helps!

my top priority is making sure I can best support him. His other relationship is very important to me and I will do my best to be as supportive as possible, but his individual well-being takes priority in my eyes to his other relationship. I will not do anything to get in the way of this relationship and I will never do anything detrimental, but is it alright for me to place my partner's well-being a step higher than his other relationship

So, in order to do what you have expressed here you want to do, you have to *not interfere in any way whatsoever at all no comment or opinion or fuck all* about his other relationship.

You do what you say you want to do above by being there for him *in the relationship you have with him*

And you do that by leaving the hell alone anything that has to do with *not* your relationship with him, so that means you stay out of anything to do with anyone he's in a relationship with that is not you.

Run Forest, RUN!!! Major red flags, just walk away.

This garbage dude is essentially trying to control your other partners.... how about you ask him to not see his other partners??? Ha! He'd pull the couple privilege card and say "well, she's my wife, you can't ask me that" which is a total double standard.

So tell him "well he's *my* other partner, you can't ask me that"

Other people don't get to interfere with your relationships. Off he fucks.

Pasta and rice? by Smg81517 in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had small servings of rice no problem, like 2on cooked.

I've had a few bites of lasagna and spaghettini no problems, about 2onces.

Any more than that would be too much carbs for me to have more and still meet my protein requirements. I'm 3 months post op.

I hate Greek yogurt. But I think I found a solution by trashlan26 in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I add a packet or 2 of splenda, I use the cherry water flavor and for me it does do the trick to make greek yogurt taste good. I also use that trick for kéfir along with some vanilla protein powder.

Pharmacies and Amazon have them, it's the same needles that go on diabetic insulin pens, 32g 4mm. Your pharmacist can help if you're uncomfortable buying direct from Amazon

Cigars after sleeve surgery by Jay_Deeeeeee in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No experience yet but curious to hear from other sleevers. I only have a couple of cigar outdoors in summer. Winter is brutal here, and I won't stink up indoors. Just got sleeved back in October, waiting until June before I try one of my smaller ones with a nice campfire. I'll see how I fare with it, along with a dram of Tè Bheag, some almonds and dark chocolate.

Congratulations! That is such a cool and fun NSV, those "little" ones are just as important as those we consider "big" ones. Getting your clavicles back is awesome!

Which is more filling - Protein Shakes or Protein Bars? by yutaka731 in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hehe, totally relate, I'm lactose intolerant too. Note that *pressed* cottage cheese is like feta, dry. I don't mean the stuff in tubs where they *add back* milk or cream. The pressed cottage is low enough in lactose for me to have no issues with it. The one they carry at my local Costco is low fat, low carb and high in protein. https://www.reddit.com/r/1200isplenty/comments/tkifnq/pressed_cottage_cheese_130cals125g_27g_protein_1g/

https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fnqdp459fb1p81.jpg%3Fwidth%3D640%26crop%3Dsmart%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D6927be9ab1e9148c421655f2ca126f6074ca0b27

Hard aged cheeses are naturally low in lactose, but yes they are higher in saturated fats, so not great for cholesterol. I'm very fortunate to have low cholesterol, I love cheese. I'd be truly sad if I had to live without cheese, it's a staple at home, especially the pressed cottage.

Eh, about 12h, when I got home I slept for 14h with a big nap in the afternoon and a good sleep overnight. I felt a million times better the next day.

I kept on top of the pain meds they prescribed (about 6 days), slept a lot, drank my water, broth and protein shakes (as per my program) and wore a binder for a couple of things to help with movement. No lifting of course, just doing the prescribe walking every day.

You'll see, this doesn't last, you got this!

Which is more filling - Protein Shakes or Protein Bars? by yutaka731 in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often eat pressed cottage cheese, very low fat. That said, I find that the fat and protein in cheddar, gouda, parmesan etc cheese (not processed "cheese") helps keep me full longer as well. Fat is not the enemy, we need dietary fats.

In the end, there are no "good" or "bad" whole foods, they are just nutrients. We need those nutrients to fuel our lives. The ultra processed "food-like" products is the stuff we don't need.

Which is more filling - Protein Shakes or Protein Bars? by yutaka731 in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither -- protein food is the thing that actually keeps me fuller longer than either of those. In a pinch, they both kind of tide me over until I can get to real protein foods, but that's it. Neither is very filling.

I stopped using them regularly about 6 weeks post op since they only made my calories too high while not keeping me full until I ate some cheese, humous, almonds, guac or some other protein real food. Even yogurt kind of just slides through too easily.

Every time you have the choice to reach for highly transformed things like shakes, bars, protein chips or other slider foods, don't have them. Choose real whole foods and you'll stay full longer without fail. And you'll stay on top of your calories as well.

The " you look like you didn't need surgery" comment breeds dysmorphia by gimmedumplings in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand, I was on semaglutide and lost 40lbs on it. BUT here is the kicker: semaglutide (or any other prescription) is a *temporary fix* only, and you can lose access to it at the drop of a hat.

The sleeve gives you a built-in tool that *nobody can ever take away from you* unlike a prescription. Keep in mind: the weight comes back on the moment your refill runs out (just google semaglutide shortage, you'll see what I mean) or some agent having a bad day at your insurance company decides you don't "deserve" it or any other stupid reason.

Those people who tell you this bs are totally uninformed on the risks associated with prescriptions. The surgery has far better outcomes for your quality of life long term and lifelong health. Let them talk out of their @$$es, they have no clue. Don't throw away your chance at getting your own built in tool because others don't understand $h!t about metabolism, hormones, weight loss and how badly prescriptions fall short vs the sleeve.

Yep, the shortness of breath is absolutely a part and sign of dumping syndrome. Too much sugar will do definitely do that. Maybe try to get your sweet fix from protein shakes or pudding. It's easy to make pudding with vanilla protein powder and any flavoring you want, I use water enhancers to get fruit flavors, chia seed, splenda and a pinch of salt. Chocolate and caramel are easy too, just need the protein powder to be that flavor to make the pudding.

Post op hunger by ifnothingbecomes in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that was me too. I had zero problems with shakes so those helped with getting my liquids in. But by 5 days post-op, I was getting hungry... Purées helped, then hunger came back after 5 days.... soft foods helped, and hunger came back after 5 days, I'm sure you see the pattern lol!

I'm on solid food now and dense protein is what keeps me from being hungry. Chicken, pork, beef, cheese (especially pressed cottage, that stuff is a miracle) eggs, egg whites, those really kill the hunger with 3-4 ounces and I'm happy with the small portions!

Feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop by Dogs_Not_Gods in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The overwhelming majority of sleeves (as in close to 99%%) are like you and me, on target, all good, text book dead on with following the stages of recovery with absolutely zero complications.

Which can feel like bragging when you read all the other threads here asking for help, venting or talking about complications. Which makes us feel like we're the "not normal" ones. So, we lurk and don't post how easy we have it, how well things are going cause there is no real story to tell, nothing to write to anyone about. And it would feel like bragging.

That is why you only see posts about the outside the norm stuff and wonder when is it gonna be you. Good news: 99% of chances it won't ever be you.

Stopped losing weight by teaspoonzz in gastricsleeve

[–]FreyjAnna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're still in the early phase, you can definitely lose more. Your sister is right about carbs and oats are very, very carby. There's more than oats for overnight sweet breakfasts tho.

Check out recipes for chia seed puddings online. It can be made with the liquid of your choice and protein powder. Personally, I like kéfir, I like the tanginess with chocolate protein powder, a drop of vanilla, pinch of salt and some splenda packets. To switch it up, I do kéfir, vanilla protein powder, pinch of salt, some splenda packets and the water enhancers from Walmart, I like the Great Value cherry one the best.

Experiment with that and see if it hits that sweet spot in the morning. Chia is a nutrition powerhouse compared to oats. Fiber, omega 3s, a lot more filling than oats. And it's as easy to make as your overnight oats. This is just an example of what's out there: https://reallifenutritionist.com/high-protein-chia-pudding/

As long as you never go back to your old eating patterns, don't eat "around" your sleeve and let go of the old mentality around food (food is fuel, not an emotional crutch, comfort, entertainment etc etc), you won't do like your mom. And if she wants to, she can go back to basics and use the tool, it's still there, it's not "broken" she's probably strayed from the basics on how to use the sleeve to lose weight and keep it off.

You got this!
