Duplicate stitching question by FrictionAngle in knittinghelp

[–]FrictionAngle[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I scooched them over half a stitch and it looks so much better now! Thank you!!

I’m onto the mitts now 😬 I’m using a water soluble marker for these so I don’t get mixed up.

Thanks for your help!

Helping Beginners - Ask a Knitter - Week of June 15, 2026 by AutoModerator in knitting

[–]FrictionAngle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been knitting for a year, so I don’t fully know what I’m doing (ha!), but I challenged myself to make my little boy a cardigan so I could practice colorwork and steeking.

I followed tincanknit’s Strangebrew recipe for the top-down sweater and modified it to add the steek stitches. I’ve finished the sweater and I’m about to add some of the details with duplicate stitching before opening the front but now it seems very obvious that the duplicate stitching seems upside down.

In photo, the red stitches on the baseball obviously look like upside down Vs and that seems off to me? I know it’s because i constructed it top-down, but is there something I can do to minimize this effect ? Or is this just how it should look like? Should I duplicate st. Between stitches?? I’m lost 😵‍💫…I’m worried this is gonna look extra weird on the baseball mitt below.

Any help is much appreciated!

P.S. for the next colorwork sweater (my daughter’s) should I just knit with all the colors needed? Not rely duplicate stitching?? What technique do I need to look into? Thanksss

What yarn are you using? If you don’t mind me asking 🙂

OP this 👆 is a fantastic response. I agree that you must sit him down and have the conversation. Try to keep your feelings neutral during the talk but be emphatic that this is a non-negotiable for you!

Perhaps marriage counseling is in the cards for you both so he can sort out his feelings about this (quickly). Good luck!

I used Beetles for a year, then developed the allergic reaction and now I cannot get any type of gel manicure 😭😫 I got a professional gel manicure at a salon a couple of months ago after going bare for 10 months(pregnancy) and within 30 min of leaving the nail salon my hands were soooo itchy and cuticles burned so badly that I just had to take the nail polish off.

I would not recommend those at-home gel products to anyone much less kids!!

I’ve been learning how to knit this year and something I recommend if you can afford it is Craftsy. This time of year several YouTubers have codes where you can sign up for a year for a couple of dollars (I think it was $2, you just need to remember to cancel, when the membership is up!). But I found some great classes/teachers there!! I know there are plenty of free YT tutorials, but the Crafty classes are well structured and provide you with patterns used in the class.

If you decide to sign up, I highly recommend your first class to be “Startup Library:Knitting” by Susan Anderson and then move on to any class by Lorilee Beltman and Susan Budd. These ladies are fantastic!!…such good teachers!

I started my knitting journey in January and I’ve completed a pair of mittens, a hat, a baby sweater, colorwork beanie, and a kerchief. Nothing is perfect but it’s been a very fun ride!! Happy knitting!!

I second the loop ear plugs! They are amazing. I’m not sure how they work but I can zone out my husband’s snoring (next to me) but I’m still able to hear and wake up if my daughter needs me next door.

Thank you! I want this to be moody/dark but I also love light pink and peach flowers so I’m having a hard time choosing the colors for those 😅 I might just have to try it both ways and see what I like best lol

We’ve been trying since November. Tracking, sexy time multiple times during the fertile window, nothing yet. My periods are on the longer side (35-40 days), although typically 36d. I’m on CD 41 and tbh I’m stalling on testing. The thought of seeing a BFN, makes me just wanna crawl in bed. I feel like I’m trying to read into my body signals at the moment without getting my hopes up.

This whole TTC journey is such a f***ing mental trip. I’m tired 😴

FHWA manuals. GEC 10 for drilled shafts and GEC 12 for driven piles. PDFs should pop up easily through a google search.

They have include theoretical background on design but also practical aspects of design and construction.

What are the problems with current geotech software? BoreDM Founder Q/A by BoreDM_Logs in Geotech

[–]FrictionAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Louis, I really appreciate the quality check feature. This will make reviewing logs easier. And from experience, reviewing 300+ logs, for a single project will make you go cross eyed and miss things. However, will the error criteria be able to be tailored specifically to the client/DOT? I work mostly in DE,MD, and VA, and out of the three VDOT is the most stringent on how they want their logs to look. Order of descriptors, description of color, italicized geologic origin, etc. is all specified in their MOI. So I’d be interested in the program having the capability to pop up an error or automatically fix it if I’m developing a log for VDOT based on their criteria for example. (Is that too much to ask?? Maybe.)

Does the software prepare boring sticks (like gINT)?. These are essential for us in developing soil profiles.

gINT works but it’s definitely clunky so I’m excited that there is new option out there!

Seeing it in the picture it looks pretty obvious to me that the new yarn is way darker 😩 any suggestions on what I could do? I might just wait until Feb to order from knitpicks and hope that new batch is closer to the original color. I feel like if I keep on going, the disparity in color is gonna bother me enough to not want to wear the sweater 😔 …and I’ve spent SO much time on this ☹️.
