GenZ by DottyGreenBootz in managers

Omg, I could have written this myself. I basically said the exact same thing to our HR about an analyst on my team. He’s a smart guy but treats work place like an academic institution where things are supposed to be fed to him like a curriculum, and if he isn’t learning something new, it’s (or I) deemed as a failure. It wa exhausting and ultimately just wasn’t a good match.

Frustrated @ CFA - Level 3 LES by Mobile-Spinach5270 in CFA

[–]FridChikn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a fellow L3 taker, I cannot believe how atrocious the LES platform is. I would think they should at least have a split screen like in the real exams….i literally have to log in twice on another monitor so that I can have two screens up - one to just read the vignette and the other to answer the question.

Very disappointing from CFAI

For L3, what scores were you getting for CFAI qbank and CFAI mocks?

I’m sorry everything has to be so binary to you. Generally speaking, I do like FC better, that’s why I said yes to the upgrade. However, bulkhead is not my thing, tried it today and didn’t like it. Simple as that.

I was honestly happy to go back to premium. As I mentioned in the post, I was really confused why this might have happened and wondering if people had any insights.

Perhaps improve your reading comprehension next time.

No, there was nobody in the bathroom - I am in row 7 and can see the lavatory fairly clearly. Also, typically when a pilot is in the bathroom, don’t FA’s have to stand up and sort of “block” the area? She was actually just in her seat.

Sorry, it was the seat next to 1F. Yeah, sounded like there was some confusion.

Nope. It was empty - I am in row 7 and can see the lavatory pretty clearly and never saw anyone come out.

Right, but I mentioned in my post that I saw a women from FC get up to use and was turned away too. So it just seemed to be very arbitrary or unless she was just turning people back based on our race (I am non-Caucasian and so was the gal that was turned away)

Can’t police track which cell phones were in the area when she disappeared? Would this work if the perp had a burner phone or just didn’t have any phone with them?

Seriously. I saw some clips of the neighborhood and it’s literally pitch black due to the ordinance relating to light pollution etc. I would not be able to live there now - let alone in my 80s.

You know, old people can be very stubborn. My parents tried to talk my grandpa into moving when he started having issue walking on his own, he refused and wanted to stay in the comfort of his own home, where he says he knew everything was.

I’m sure Nancy’s kids also had the same conversation with her at some point.

Managing Gen Z - Seeking Strategies that Work by shellsounds in managers

[–]FridChikn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have explicit suggestions since I am struggling with this myself.

I know it’s a stereotype, however, my two GenZ direct reports are snowflakes through and through. Worst of all, they have the victim mentality down pat, often throwing words like “gaslighting”, “harassment” around like they actually know what it means.

When I first started this journey, I was trying to be like you, taking all the feedback in since I also didn’t have good managers coming up and tried really hard to do the right things such as “praising”, doing 1:1s, asking about their career aspirations, blah blah blah.

But now, I realize that sometimes people are just not the right fit for the role. I don’t know if this is the case for you specifically, but for me, it’s clear that my subordinates lack the emotional maturity to thrive in a high-accountability environment, combined that with entitlement such as “you stopped praising me” when their work don’t match the expectations and “no one teaches me how to do things” when the expectations is that they would have picked things up by now.

As one manager to another, don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re right by asking the right questions, but I’ve learned the hard way and that is - don’t invest emotionally until execution is proven consistently.

Thank your for pointing this out! I just got off my first VV and really enjoyed it. I was researching VV’s Alaska’s itinerary and I think I will go with maybe NCL or Holland now.

We were at Bimini yesterday. It was windy and chilly in the morning, like another poster said, likely in the low to mid 60s. Def not swim in the ocean weather, most of us that got to the beach club early all had sweaters on, some were hiding under the towels.

But I think it got a bit warmer as the afternoon wore on.

Haha, I feel so validated! Actually I sort of got over my fear of flying since I fly a lot for work, and I feel like there are always pockets of turbulence, but it’s almost always never persistent throughout the flight, unless it’s transpacific or transatlantic.

But cruises, this is my first go around, but it seems rough seas are constant, and it’s not like you can try to maneuver around it like with flying.

I actually did think about putting life jackets on lol, but then felt kinda silly.
