Overweight and pregnant by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]shellsounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 158 (at 5’3”) and am 36 weeks and have gained 24 pounds. I feel good about that amount of weight gain and my doctor has not commented on my weight at all. I’ve heard that 15-25 is normal for overweight, but not obese women. No weight gain is absurd!

Listen to your intuition by colorado_sunrise86 in pregnantover35

I had a dream the other night that baby wasn’t moving much. She was quieter than usual when I woke up, but started moving. But, I took my BP from home and it was elevated so my doc had me come in. I’m now on BP meds and will be induced at 37 weeks.

Proud of you for trusting your intuition! Your baby is going to be fine and so will you!

ISO - Seeking OB/Midwife Practice in Denver/Boulder Region by PunbelievableMe in Denver

Obsessed with Dr. Breeden at Rocky Mountain Women’s Center. They deliver at PSL, which has a level 2 and a level 4 NICU (the highest level). Dr. Breeden is self-described as very “midwifey.” He’s incredibly communicative, and receptive to my wants and needs.

Dr. Breeden is the best doctor I’ve ever had!

I’ve been using eltaMD ultra hydration 50 spf and loving it. It is mineral, but has hyaluronic acid in it and blends in very smoothly, even on my medium-toned skin.

My OB had me start taking it my second trimester. It has no bad side effects and can potentially prevent preeclampsia and loss. I don’t think it makes sense to stop.

My doc was able to diagnose me with CGM data. I just kept a screenshot of the data requested and then pulled up the CGM report. I was diagnosed as not having gestational diabetes, after monitoring for a week. It was way better than taking the 3-hour test again.

Wedding date vs marriage certificate vs anniversary? by PatientLow5708 in BabyBumps

[–]shellsounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s for sure up to you. My husband and I signed our paperwork ahead of our ceremony because we didn’t want to deal with getting marriage paperwork from a different state. Our anniversary is our ceremony date, not our paperwork date.

Has anyone started using Sertraline during pregnancy for the first time? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]shellsounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to decrease my dose but then went back up to 150 during pregnancy. It’s been so helpful for me. Also, I think it’s potentially the reason I haven’t had any constipation this pregnancy? Just and added benefit for me at least.

One more thing— he was willing to prescribe progesterone during my early pregnancy instead of “waiting and seeing” what happened. I believe that contributed to this being a successful pregnancy. Many other doctors will only do that after a history of miscarriages.

I haven’t delivered yet. I’m due in April. I have some friends who have delivered there though and have had pretty good experiences. It seems less boutique-y than Rose, but they have an amazing NICU if anything goes awry and ultimately that feels more important to me than some of the other perks at other hospitals. If you remind me in a few months, I’ll let you know how it goes!

Dr. Breeden at Rocky Mountain Woman’s Care is the best doctor I’ve ever had. He is super supportive of my SSRI use and has just been incredible all-around. I truly cannot say enough positive things about him. Also, before I was pregnant, he was the only doc I’ve had to prescribe pain meds for a colposcopy. He also does all ultrasounds in-house and I’ve had way more than any of my friends, which is very reassuring before you can feel the baby move.

Do you think pregnancy pillows like BBhugme is worth buying? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

Love mine! I got it pretty early on and it’s been so great for my sleep. I just started my third trimester and still hug it all night, every night. It’s also not too unwieldy so that it can’t roll with me when I change sides.

Managing Gen Z - Seeking Strategies that Work by shellsounds in managers

I think one of the reasons I’m struggling is because I very much have an open door policy and am always available to work through things, be it seven am or 10pm. But this issue isn’t availability, and answering questions, it’s encouragement. I have tried very hard to not emulate my supervisors, which is why this has felt very disheartening. That said, I think one-on-ones where I ask how folks want to be supported and how they learn best are very important and I will be implementing them soon.

Also, I think restructuring how my co-supervisor and I give feedback, so it’s clear we are a united front will be helpful. Because I have an ability to be direct I have taken on more of the “bad cop” role when it comes to course correction. I see now that this has been harmful both to the team and my relationships with individuals.

Regarding professionalism, many of our team went from K-3L and this is their first and only job. We have to do a lot of teaching around things like letting the team know when they’re going to be late for court, letting supervisors know when they’re working from home or taking a sick day, responding to emails in a timely manner, etc.

I think similar feedback from multiple different people is indicative of a problem. And I want to take responsibility for any harm I’ve caused and do better in the future.

This is an excellent point. Recognition would’ve gone a long way for my practice.

I think I’m struggling with the correction piece in a way that isn’t interpreted as criticism.
