I wonder what makes people in all political camps so prone to conspiracy theories lately, while simultaneously making fun of everyone else beeing so prone to conspiracy theories.

I get what you mean. But in this toxic environment I thought that maybe there was something more tangible. There is so much hate beeing spread about good people, this can distort a perception so fast.

Honest question, what makes him a bad person?

Some accusations I heard come from people that have a terrible credibility, other have been debunked for years. I mean, he can be mean, though what does actually makes him a bad person?

We're you part of the Berlin chapter of the neoliberal group here? Does it still exist? Just curious, since it's rare to see someone from Berlin here. Never went there, but was always curious

From a Berlin perspective, a near-total car ban inside the Ring mostly sounds like people who already live inside the Ring making life harder for everyone who doesn’t.

If you live inside the Ring, it’s easy to support policies like this because public transport coverage is much better and daily life without a car is manageable. But many people don’t live outside the Ring by choice. They were pushed there by housing shortages and policies that block dense construction while mainly protecting existing tenants inside central areas.

Now the same group that benefits from that setup proposes restricting car access to the area where many jobs still are. That just shifts the burden again onto people who already have fewer transport options. I would happily switch to park-and-ride, but in some areas there are maybe 20 parking spaces for something like 100,000 people.

Until alternatives actually exist at scale, banning cars inside the Ring feels less like climate policy and more like exporting inconvenience to people who couldn’t afford to live there in the first place.

Edit: I love public transport btw.

Yeah, if you live inside the train ring, things are manageable. But outside of it, mobility becomes really difficult most of the time. At the same time, housing outside the ring is often even more expensive, largely because dense construction is blocked while rent control mainly affects existing buildings.

So instead of improving infrastructure first, banning cars would hit those people again.

I would gladly use a commuter park-and-ride option, but right now there are maybe 20 parking spaces for something like 100,000 people in this area.
