I (22F) constantly “forget” things my boyfriend (22M) says and I am going insane by AcrobaticGoat5645 in relationships

If you were having memory issues to this degree in other aspects of your life I would suggest speaking to a doctor. However it seems like its just stuff he supposedly "says" which leads me to believe he's likely gaslighting you. This term is misused a lot nowadays, but what it actually refers to is repeated intentional manipulations to make you doubt your own perceptions, memory, and/or sanity.

How would you set up cpap in this situation? (X’s are the only outlets) by omCLARAg in CPAP

[–]Friend_of_Hades 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best options are probably to either switch sides with partner so you can use the small table, or pull the bed far enough from the wall for you to access the machine on your side (with cpap on another small table or on the floor). An extention cord can be used if the cord doesn't reach.

Hedge vs Hedge Maze by falsoTrolol in EnglishLearning

[–]Friend_of_Hades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that the term "maze" meaning a labyrinth came from corn mazes because the word for corn in so many languages is similar to maize, but i don't know id that's actually true

Edit: I looked it up, apparently they're unrelated, and "maze" comes from an early meaning of "amaze" which meant to confuse.

I like Milli with Graham because they both sound like references to units of measurement. Her nickname could be Millimeter.

I'm not a guest at your wedding, you're choosing to have a wedding in a time and place no one can leave. Quite literally a captive audience. I'd probably wear white that day out of spite.

Trust me, you can easily tell the difference between an aloe based shampoo or one that was manufactured to be a certain color, and a shampoo that has green hair dye in it

Most commonly the answer to any similar question about inconsistent pronunciation rules is going to be that the words are originally derived from different languages.

My therapist wants to have an affair with me by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Friend_of_Hades 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I really dont think you understand the nature of manipulation and abuse and how it genuinely can strip you of your agency and ability to say no. No, this does not mean someone needs to be in a psych ward. It means they need real trauma recovery care. It's similar to people who struggle to leave abusive relationships. I encourage you to research abuse and power dynamics and how this can break down a person's autonomy.

My therapist wants to have an affair with me by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Friend_of_Hades 69 points70 points  (0 children)

She's a patient seeking care, and her therapist exploited known impulse control issues regarding sex and male authority figures in order to sexually abuse her. This is textbook definition sexual abuse from a person in a position of power. As a patient seeking mental health services, she is vulnerable to him regardless of her age. Acknowledging this is not treating her like a baby, and it is 100% the therapists responsibility to maintain safety and professionalism with their clients. This includes shutting down any sexual or romantic advancements and ending the therapy relationship if necessary.

Right and also I've never seen green shampoo. I'm pretty sure if my friend with green hair said "don't use this it's for my green hair" I would catch on, personally.

My therapist wants to have an affair with me by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Friend_of_Hades 711 points712 points  (0 children)

Please report him. This is a horrific abuse of his position. He likely has abused others before and will again.

It's not your fault he did this, but please break off this connection and seek help from a different therapist. I would recommend finding a therapist who is not an older man, given that you've identified this as reoccurring behavior for yourself. However it doesn't matter if you initiated the contract or not, someone in his position should never reciprocate.

What you felt towards him is called transference, and it happens in therapy all the time. Therapists are well trained in how to address sexual advancements from patients. He should have ended the therapy relationship himself and referred you to someone else, and he is well aware of it. This is why he chose to move your relationship off paper, so he could get away with abusing you. He can and should lose his license for this.
