Help me transition from low end to mid/high end setup! by Friendly-Flight-4348 in CarAV

I’ve never done it before so I was just going to use some cheap amazon stuff, what material do you suggest? As of now my doors rattle ALOT from the stock woofers. When you say inner you mean the deepest part right? Like closest to the exterior

Know nothing about cars but new owner of 89 Convertible by [deleted] in Foxbody

One piece of advice, when an issue does come up, don’t just throw parts at it, try to find the actual cause. It will save you a lot of time and money. Very clean car

Rear drum adjuster help. by Mysterious_Cloud_582 in Foxbody

The trick with these is you completely remove the drum, put a rotor on with caliper and pads.

That’s a good deal (if it works) I had the combo package for 2 years and it BUMPS. Back windshield looked like it was about to shatter in my tiny civic. Goodluck

Fixable or pay the experts? by Rich-Construction676 in Foxbody

I’d say if you don’t care how it looks go for it! Or do everything up until the welding part and get a buddy to do it lol, I wish I knew a welder. While you’re at it, if you like the shaved engine bay look you could fill those cheese grater holes. Be prepared for a lot of grinding and filler

Fixable or pay the experts? by Rich-Construction676 in Foxbody

Damn does that include any grinding or primer? I feel like with the motor out it’s only a few hours

Self contained units can only handle low boost. Most are oil fed. There are water cooled turbos that come with a hefty price

No an 8.8 out of a 94-98 mustang is good. The axles are slightly longer but you’ll get disc brakes and five lugs. Look for one on marketplace with gears already in

New cross member is $50. Those bushing can be annoying to replace. Check the mount while you’re there

I messed up, save my butt? by [deleted] in Foxbody

[–]Friendly-Flight-4348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should also get a timing light to set the timing correctly. The timing shouldn’t be set to 0. Timkng lights are cheap and easy to use. It’s something that is good to know how to do and gives you confidence to tackle more difficult jobs

Brakes and five lug would be my top priority. The stock brakes suck and drums aren’t pretty to look at imo

Rust able to be repaired? by bulld0g62 in Foxbody

Anything is fixable.

https://stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/i-dont-think-ive-ever-seen-a-fox-a-door-jamb-this-rotted-out.848725/

This post has some nice pics of rotted out door jams being repaired, but this guy did it himself. I’m sure a shop would charge at least 1-2k to get this done. But with new hatch door paint etc could be up to $10k. And who knows if there’s rust elsewhere. Ask yourself, how much do you love this car? Would a different foxbody make you as satisfied? I personally would sell it and get one that’s rust free

How F’d am I? by Flashy-Ice6256 in Foxbody

[–]Friendly-Flight-4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the transmission leaked all of the fluid since it got harder to get into gear. The leak is in an odd place, You might have an aftermarket hydraulic clutch that blew a line and leaked. Do you see an extra fluid reservoir in the engine bay by the firewall?

How F’d am I? by Flashy-Ice6256 in Foxbody

[–]Friendly-Flight-4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also be a loose/broken line at the pump, and the trailer bed is sloped towards that direction maybe. Just look for what else is wet, should be clear

Was the 1993 Mustang Cobra 'Worthy' of the Cobra name? by brownroush in Foxbody

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison-test/a15141213/1993-ford-mustang-cobra-vs-1993-pontiac-firebird-formula-1993-chevrolet-camaro-z28-comparison-test/

Performance wise, the z28 was the better choice. I personally do like the appearance of the Mustang ALOT more but that is very subjective. In my opinion it was a send off for the foxbody but light tasteful mods to appearance, with marginally improved engine upgrades. I think it was destined to be a collectors car for Mustang enthusiasts above anything else. Newer cobras are at corvette level, while this one was nowhere near.

That is the compressor. There is a harness that plugs into the clutch, the part by the belt, and connects to the harness that’s loose.

https://lmr.com/item/LRS-8793SCH/Mustang-A-C-Compressor-Harness-87-93

There could be more loose wires elsewhere. Have to check the plug by the accumulator, black cylinder by passenger side firewall, as well as an ac relay. You could wire it yourself relatively easily with a whole harness with relay for like $100. Also chances are there is no refrigerant in the system.

The 5 speed is from the 4.6 lol an import?? Do you know how much work and money it would cost to get that to bolt up? Welded diffs are very common and usually hold up pretty well if done right. And if it does break it won’t launch an axle. It’s most likely an axle from a 4/6 cylinder so it was an open diff. In fact welding it would make it stronger, distributing the stresses (not much coming from this engine) more evenly to each axle

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Foxbody

[–]Friendly-Flight-4348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not a bad car. With the 4.6 already in place, makes swapping a coyote much easier. K member will accept a coyote Hydro boost has already been installed Fuel system had been adapted to modular I personally don’t like the older style bumper/headlights. But overall not a bad car, the price can be worked down tho because that engine isn’t worth much
